PFT: ESPN commentator on RG3: “He’s kind of black, but he’s not really”

Caught today's presser on NFL channel, someone asked Griff about how he felt playing for a team who's nickname is considered racist.

Griff announced that he is not qualified to answer that question.

Didn't catch who the reporter was that asked but it wouldn't surprise me if it was another ESPN lackey.

Just let the kid play some football dammit, he can solve all of these issues when he hit's 40 or so.

It was that idiot race baiter with the name change cause, Mike Wise.

Oh, you mean the guy that just lose his radio show because no one gives two ****s what he thinks about sports?

So happy he lost that job.

yeah, when i was driving for a living, i had the radio on 106.7 the fan, EXCEPT when he was on the radio... i can't stand that guy

106.7 the fan's format flip to sports talk is what made me discover espn980.

I now enjoy sports radio.

Just go read his twitter timeline after he said what he said... his apology is hollow, he meant every word he said, he just expected more support than he received.

What a joke. My boycott of ESPN continues. I broke it for the power rankings, but that'll be the last time.

I'm surprised he apologized at all after reading some of his comments on twitter immediately following the whole thing. He was brazenly defiant about it.

Clearly someone finally convinced him to reconsider. I'm not sure how genuine an apology could be at this point. He was most definitely not feeling sorry about it for quite awhile.

I'm guessing he thought ESPN had his back until they threw him under the bus. This still looks very bad for ESPN to me.

I couldnt agree more. ESPN looks even worse than Parker due to the appearance of sanctioning the whole thing. LOL, the idiots re-aired the segment 2 more times before it all went to hell in a handbasket.

Blacks hating on other blacks "not black enough" has been prevalent throughout history in one form or another since "whiteness" in their identity is something they are still grappling with. For example, Mulattos got the short end of the stick, with both white and darker-skinned black ostracizing them.

Oh, and I too doubt Parker is being genuine. He's only saving face.

30 days....Ha! Anyone who doesn't think BSPN put him up to this is fooling themselves! What a joke.

Very well written piece by Juan Williams. Sorry if it's already been posted.

http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2012...rker-and-sad-truth-about-our-racial-politics/

Back in 2007, Syracuse University Professor Boyce Watkins said publicly what many liberals had been saying behind my back for years, that I was Bill O’Reilly’s “Happy Negro.” A black radio host, on another O’Reilly show, said I should “go back to the porch,” like a mindless slave.
What can black people of good character and honest counsel do to push back against these scurrilous attacks?

I don’t think I can put it better than RGIII did in an interview with USA Today’s Jim Corbett last week

"I am an African-American in America," Griffin said. "That will never change. But I don't have to be defined by that...”

ESPN statement, posted here: http://deadspin.com/5970288/espn-suspends-rob-parker-for-a-month

Our review of the preparation for the show and the re-air has established that mistakes both in judgment and communication were made....

Which translates to...

"we told you to question his blackness, but who the **** said anything about going after his fiancé and calling him a cornball? crap. oh well. take 30 days off with pay and we'll also say we're sorry"

**** ESPN. I never watched First Take anyways because skip and Stephan A Smith are as dumb as it gets. I'm sure they wont miss me.
