Rob Parker is a cornball brother. He's trying way too hard. No offense to any real journalists in Redskins nation, but any "analysis" done by a journalism major should be taken with a boulder of salt. Deuces.

This is what I believe as well. ESPN wanted the angle, but he went waaaaaaaayyyyy farther than planned. Face it, we live in the age of "sportstainment" where story lines and hype are the narrative and reality is to be damned. These are the same idiots that pimp Luck as an MVP because of the storyline. Luck kinda sucks, at least when juxtaposed with RG-I'mblackerthanRobParker-3 and Russell Wilson.
 
If Rush got fired for telling the truth about McNabb, this loser should be tarred and feathered for his remarks.
 
Yep, ESPN wants to cash in on Griffin both when he throws 4 touchdowns and then when they can get one of their highly paid bomb throwers to go to work raising controversies over what he eats, how he dresses, who he dates, etc.

As Brian Mitchell said, we are all just sick and tired of guys coming along to drag a guy down because he has achieved something.

I said it was arguable, and while incendiary, it wasnt attacking Mcrapps "blackness" it was a judgement call on his ability as a QB and on the media. to me what was said about Rg3 was a personal attack and something far worse.

Rob Parker calls Mark Sanchez a "cheeseburger homey"

Adding fuel to the firestorm ignited by his inflammatory remarks questioning Robert Griffin's blackness, ESPN talking head Rob Parker found a new target - Jets starting quarterback Mark Sanchez.
Sanchez was asked earlier in the week if he thought his poor performances might be a brown flag for other teams considering drafting a Latino QB.
"I don't know, man. I never set out to be the worst Latino quarterback. I just wanted to be the most overpaid QB in the league."
Parker was, to say the least, unsatisfied by Sanchez's response. "The guy answered in perfect English without making a single gang gesture or showing any hint of an accent. I never hear about him cutting the stadium grass. He's got a little too much gel in his hair, but I never see him wearing a bandana or carrying a flag. He's putting off having children until after he's married. I just don't think he's down with the cause, I mean, if he got really drunk during the Puerto Rican Day parade, could you see him groping innocent woman. He's not a real homey, he's a cheeseburger homey."
Steve Smith, for his part, noted he was uncomfortable with the concept of sexually assaulting anyone.

It's a very fine line between preserving one's culture and allowing for some compromises to the "code of conduct".
 
I'm still trying to figure out what the "cause" he's supposed to be supporting? Does he need to blow all his money, file for bankruptcy and go down and apply for an EBT card and shack up with some ho's to be legit? Don't forget to "Make it rain" brotha!

I must have been mistaken when thinking that the goal was to get past the racial issues. Apparently those formerly most effected by them seem to like the attention it brings, and this seems to prove that negative attention is preferred considering that this guy is easily the best Black QB so far and a lot of people seem to think he needs to act more ghetto in order to properly represent them. Lets not allow the guy to show some class and prove himself intelligent and educated enough to actually represent US ALL!

Yes, not all elements of culture should be preserved, especially when certain values or customs lead to destructive or parasitic behaviors. Plus, the environs change as time passes, and certain values become...not so useful.

I probably could have phrased it better, as certain behaviors are universally out of line ethics-wise. The fine line is more about finding how to be open to others while not wiping out the cultural identity completely.
 
Imagine if Parker and RGIII were white Quebecois but RGIII doesn't know French and speaks without an accent...

I blew it and I’m sincerely sorry. I completely understand how the issue of race in sports is a sensitive one and needs to be handled with great care. This past Thursday I failed to do that. I believe the intended topic is a worthy one. Robert’s thoughts about being an African-American quarterback and the impact of his phenomenal success have been discussed in other media outlets, as well as among sports fans, particularly those in the African-American community. The failure was in how I chose to discuss it on First Take, and in doing so, turned a productive conversation into a negative one. I regrettably introduced some points that I never should have and I completely understand the strong response to them, including ESPN’s reaction. Perhaps most importantly, the attention my words have brought to one of the best and brightest stars in all of sports is an unintended and troubling result. Robert Griffin III is a talented athlete who not only can do great things on the field, but off the field handles himself in a way we are all taught – with dignity, respect and pride. I’ve contacted his agent with hopes of apologizing to Robert directly. As I reflect on this and move forward, I will take the time to consider how I can continue to tackle difficult, important topics in a much more thoughtful manner.



So I guess this means that jerk doesnt get fired because his PR folks can write a nice apology tweet. Sorry, my forgiveness meter is not getting the reaction he desires. Jaskarse

Just go read his twitter timeline after he said what he said... his apology is hollow, he meant every word he said, he just expected more support than he received.

What a joke. My boycott of ESPN continues. I broke it for the power rankings, but that'll be the last time.
