The Ravens, sitting atop the AFC North at 9-3 actually look vulnerable-and their fans know it. And the Redskins are one of the hottest teams in he...

Awesome as always.

"Its a road game, so Joe can stop Joe. "

Seriously, our best strategy on defense might be letting joe bet himself.

I love the fact that they're concerned about this game. Even I wouldn't have said that in August.

It's so funny to see other people's perspectives...
"Rg3 passing to his plethera of receivers"

you mean our plethora of nothing special receivers that every skins fan wants replaced as soon as possible?

(outside of garcon, as long as he's healthy)

"Jim Haslett is an excellent defensive coordinator who will show some unorthodox coverages and zone blitzes"

LOL.

Yeah, that caught my eye too. Funny stuff. Thanks as always for the work putting all this together serv. Always an interesting read.

"Would you say I have a plethora of receivers?"

Anyway, it's interesting how many opposing teams' fans suggest putting a 'spy' on Griffin. Anyone familiar with the read option will know that won't work. :)

Why doesn't that work? Is it just too easy for the QB to figure out and get around in this scheme?

Thanks for this serv.

The Ravens fan who writes about the "inflation" of our passing defense figures actually makes a pretty fair point. Our run defense is good certaintly, but perhaps not as good as our ranking might make it out given just how terrible our passing defense is and what that provides as fodder for opposing coaching staffs to play with -- i.e., if your opponent's pass defense is horrendous, why wouldn't you attack from the air far more frequently than on the ground.

Of course, there's the mitigation of keeping your team's time of possession up -- but at the same time, you could always run the interior routes and the quasi-run yardage passing plays where you get 5-7 yards, stay in bounds and keep RGIII off the field.

Taking a step back, what a massive, massive sea change that we have a player on offense that opposing teams are trying to keep off the field. How long has it been since we've had someone like that!!

If the defense spends a player entirely on Griffin every play Morris is going to gash them. How many times have we seen a LB zero in on Griffin only to discover he doesn't actually have the ball.

The spy only really works on mobile QBs to keep them from killing the defense by leaving the pocket on busted pass plays. While Griffin running with the ball is incorporated into our scheme, we don't rely on him to scramble for tons of yards, and he prefers not to actually do that. A spy would be a waste against us.

Thanks for all the appreciation, folks-I enjoy doing it.

What has really been enjoyable, as has been pointed out, is seeing how much difference there is now in other team' fans perspective of the Skins compared to any time in the recent past.

Once the butt of jokes and insults, we're now a team that nobody is looking forward to playing because they're scared they'll lose.

Damn that does feel good. :)

While most of our fans are optimistic about this game, the Ravens fans are simply hoping for the best. RG3 is right - our backs are still up against the wall and the team needs to realize it.

The Ravens have had our number in recent years and I'm sure their fans take pride in the local rivalry. Hope this is not another "gotcha" game. We need this game as much as we needed the last three.

I'm hearing wet conditions for today's game. Let's hope the Wr's don't drop passes like they did in the Steeler game. I think the Raven's are going to test our run defense today. I just don't see how the Ravens win this game if the Wr's hang onto the ball and RG3 and Morris move the chains against a banged up Defense.
In years past this is the kind of game the Skins should have won but would somehow find a way to lose.

Yeah, I have been working in the Baltimore area a lot this week so I've had the chance to listen to talk radio up there. They aren't concerned so much about the Redskins' as they are Griff. I would say 85% of them don't even know that we are the #1 rushing team in the league and our RB has run for more yards than their great Ray Rice.

Rain, you say? Crank Up That Diesel!
