This is definitely a possibility. And who could blame him? It's still a big mess in DC. Makes me furious.

I imagine Manning is feeling pretty smart right now about his decision to not even consider us.

I'm not. I'm just not letting him or the NFL off the hook until we have the details. There's no way he and Jerry were oblivious that dumping those dollars would be a problem for other owners. I don't think this is as one sided as everyone is so quick to point out.

I don't know enough about it yet Om to have an opinion one way or the other. If we were warned 6 times, and still did it, then it's hard to play the victim card. Still too early to say.

What isn't too early to say is that we've been the poster child of dysfunction for so long now, and we are now even more dysfuntional with these handcuffs placed upon us.

It's just a mess, and I'm sure Manning is thrilled that he didn't sign on the dotted line.
 
Yeah, but there is proof of other teams doing the exact same thing we did, and 8 other teams who cut space below the salary floor to save money. None of those teams were punished, but the Redskins and Cowboys (sort of) were.

106.7 thefan (Mike Wise show) is reporting that the skins still plan on doing the 6 million 30 million dollar split with comments from the Redskin FO that sound like they are leaning toward the litigation route. Supposedly 35 to 40 million under the Cap before the penalty.

RGIII is not going to do that. Twitter, facebook and ESPN reported how after hearing the Redskins traded up to be in position to get him, RGIII and his friends celebrated, cough got plastered.

If there's one thing I've learned about RG3 after all this is that he's got the highest character of any kid I've seen in awhile. No way he would do something like this - he's not a sniveling brat like Eli or Elway who would pull a bush-league move like this.
 
Not sure if this was posted in here or not, but the Texans (surprisingly) released their RT Eric Winston. He's got family ties to the Dolphins (his brother is a scout) and he went to UM, so I think he's gonna sign there. But, he could definitely be a target, as he is instantly the best OT on the market.

I hope the Skins make their case, and believe they will.

But I can't help but notice that teams like the Giants and the Patriots aren't in the same boat right now, and didn't use the same strategy.

Why do you think that is? Is it because we are smarter than they are?

And now later today, we are going to sign (statistically) the 18th best receiver in the league last year, and make him the highest, or second highest paid receiver in the league. Maybe we have to? Maybe we are almost forced to, if in fact we don't have enough faith in any of our current WRs to be a #1.

But doesn't that type of move....making a 29 year old, the 18th best the highest paid, bring back any memories? Adam Archuleta....you know all the rest.

Does it strike you as odd that the Patriots, Steelers, Ravens and others aren't bidding for Jackson today? Why do you believe that is?

There's a difference between being a sniveling brat, and being a good business man. We'll just have to see how this mess plays out. Just frustrating to be embroiled in such controversy.

The first part of your post is answered by one word: Vinny. Allen inheirited a mess from Vinny when he came on board; these restructurings were a big part of cleaning up that mess.

The second part of your post is valid, and concerning. I am not in favor of signing VJax, and believe that money would be much better spent elsewhere.

According to "sources." This happens every year; the Redskins are going to sign everyone in sight. Don't be surprised if VJax is NOT in B&G next year.

What good business? He's going to get paid at #2 overall level no matter what (slotted salaries). He won't make any more or less money by staying in DC or forcing his way out. Not really sure how good business has anything to do with it?

Yeah I chatted about it last night on another site. He was allegedly tight with Shanny jr, but I am thinking he is taking his talents to south beach too.

Just going by what espn and Schefter are reporting. It's the same teams you would expect who are reportedly going after him. Maybe not coincidentally are the win/loss records of these teams year after year.

The same teams who went after Fat Al.....the usual suspects. Tampa, Chicago and us.
 
Got some cap numbers for you...

With the league chopping $18 mil off, we went down to just under $13 mil. The cuts yesterday takes us to about $17.2 mil. There is a carry-over of nearly $14 mil from last season and it puts us at $31 mil for the moment. $49 mil if the situation with the league can be mitigated today.

We may resturcture Trent Williams and that could add about $5 mil - taking us to somewhere between $35.5 - $36.5 mil. Cutting or trading DHall takes us to around $42 mil - or around $60 mil if we get the $18 mil back.

Hearing that DHall is probably gone though - can't completely confirm.

Winston is not a target.
