Official NASCAR Thread

Ah, sweet. JGR with all cars in the top ten - and the winner. And all the JGR cars are ninth or better in the points.

Love Joe Gibbs. :)

The 11 was the best car on Monday night as well. He could hang with the top three in the final laps. Having Logano behind him would've brought a win. The 11 was the only car to push to the front on multiple occasions.

Keep on hating Joe Gibbs. Not advisable in a Redskins hangout. :)

Negative, sir. The 17 and 16 were there all night long. And we can talk about the what-ifs all night...what if the 16 had pulled out sooner, and the 88 had gone with him? But ultimately, those two cars ran up front all evening, and finished where they should have.

OK, now THAT was just dirty pool.

I don't need to list my qualifications as a Joe Gibbs fan, and I won't. But I will give you a hypothetical.

Let's say Coach Joe comes back as coach of the Panthers. (Not going to happen, obviously, he's a Redskin to his very soul.) But IF he did, do you become a Panthers fan? Heck no. You're a Skins fan. You'd STAY a Skins fan. That doesn't diminish what you think of Gibbs. But your team is your team.

Well, the same thing happened to me in NASCAR. I'd been a Roush fan for probably 15 years when Joe came into the sport. I wasn't about to abandon my team because he showed up. Yeah, it definitely bothered me at first not to root for a guy for whom I have so much appreciation and respect. But now, I can completely separate Coach Joe and the guy who owns JGR in my head.

We don't need hypotheticals! And you call yourself a Redskins fan? Pfft!

Wrong again hog. The 17 struggled early on - overheating was an issue. He could never move to the front by himself the way the 11 was able to on a consistent basis. The 16 was not able to push the 88 to the lead at the end.

Joe Gibbs - you're either for him or against him. There is no in-between. :)

OK, fine. Have it your way. You had the car to win, but not the driver. :)

You're starting to remind me of a :cowboy: fan.

Nope. That was NASCAR's call to have Joey drop back three spots on the last restart and no one still knows why. I have a sneaking suspicion that it was to help a certain popular driver, but the 16 couldn't get that done.

Again, you are for Coach Gibbs or you are against him. No in-between. No rocket science here. Just a bunch of pressure. :cheesy:

yeah, I think it is less about Jr, although you're probably partially right. I think it has more to do with the good ole' boys who do not want a Toyota to win it. I don't really want a Toyota to win it, but we're talking about Joe Gibbs here!

Ah yes, the obligatory shot from Mike at me. :) I know, I know - you want to beat me up in a bar fight now. Eh, that would never happen, lol. Seriously, get over it.

"I'm against the guy that owns JGR." At least you are honest about being against Coach Gibbs in a Redskins internet forum. :) There is no difference in the coaching title. Everyone at JGR calls him "Coach".

Keep this line of thinking up, and it will be you and I going through the front window of that bar. ;)

As I said, I don't need to post my credentials as a Gibbs fan. We'll have to agree to disagree on this.

This difference is that you and I are having is fun and we are yanking at each other's chains in a funny way. :) Someone else can't take it no matter what is said and done.

Yeah. You found a hot-button I didn't know I had though. If I had thought you were serious, we might have had an issue. :)

I won't pick sides between friends. I just don't. Sucks to see actual animosity though. Meh.

Then why did you respond Mike? Yeah, you took a subtle shot. Most people bow down to your physical presence, but I have never done that and never will. Whenever you take a shot, expect one back and then some. So yes, I knew exactly what that one sentence meant - keep on cultivating enemies - you are an expert at it.

You can't take good natured teasing about things that are considered "sacred" to you. I don't take myself in such a serious manner.

Dozens and dozens of texts? Exaggerate much drama queen?

Oh, and I don't care what you do in this forum. Just chalk it up to another one of the many who you seem to cross paths with here and at the other place. No exaggeration there. But yeah, blame it on me or a mod over there or some other person. There is always one common denominator though - look in the mirror and you will see that person.
