I drove a friend of my sister's to a concert last night. Her boyfriend is a major MMA fight trainer. Apparently he has some big-time clients. If you guys are interested, I can name names :)

The fight is actually sooner than i thought. Happening right now(9:10am).
 
That was most boring Fedor fight in 10 yrs. He actually fought with a gameplan for the 1st time in his life and won easily. Would love to see him get back on his game and fight some of the top contenders again.

Silva injured? Or is Silva dictating his opponent?

Either way, Munoz had a very solid outing last fight against Leben. He is no push over for Sonnen. We'll see how it turns out.
 
Not a very strong card tonight by any means, so I'm just picking the top 3 fights.

Ortiz vs Lil Nog - There is nothing about either of these two fighters that doesn't scream "way past their prime" but I think it'll be entertaining for 2 rounds before my prediction of Ortiz by GnP.

Mir vs Big Nog - Umm really Dana, we really needed a rematch of two guys who should never be in title contention ever again? I get the "revenge" aspect except, I don't care about it. I picked Big Nog in the first fight and then proeceed to watch him get ktfo, so this time I'm going with well Big Nog again. Why, I have no idea, just a gut feeling Big Nog somehow digs deep and decides he wants to fight this time.

Jones vs Machida - I read an article today where it stated everything being said about Jon Jones was said about Machida 18 months ago. Unique, unstoppable, the next era but as we all learned Machida didn't get past Shogun who just straight whooped his ass. Jones already has a title defense, is younger, has a stupid nuts reach advantage and quite frankly seems to be always on top of his game. There is a potential upset here if Jones can't handle Machida's unorthodox fighting and counter striking style, however I just don't see it. Jones KO's Machida in round 3.
 
This is a card I definitely want to watch. The gf isn't happy, but I'll be at Friendly Confines to check this out.

Wow for the Mir finish. And Jones may be the baddest man on the planet. I certainly wouldn't want to face him. He may be the best of all time when it's said and done.

Yeah I was just telling Mike over on Facebook that I watched Mir break Nog's arm about 10 times. Usually I can't watch stuff like that, but that was wicked. (Maybe I was de-sensitized after Theismann's leg... LOL!) Mir really proved he is a contender after he got rocked, gathered his senses and snapped dude's humerus. I swear if he had a chin, he'd be unstoppable. He out Jiu Jitsu'ed Nog and Nog was supposed to be the best BJJ fighter at heavy weight.

As for Jon Jones, that fight had the makings of a classic after what we saw in the 1st round. I felt like Jones would pull it out in the later rounds, but DAMN! That kid is something special. Hendo should be up next and his only chance is if he connects of one of his crazy, head down haymakers. Maybe they will finally give Rashad a chance if he can make it past Phil Davis.
 
I think Jones will really stay at the top for a long time, he's just 24. I've also became an instant fan of The Korean Zombie, he is currently tied for the fastest knock out in the first 7 seconds of the first round.
 
Man, I was expecting much more from Hominik. I think he got overzealous and get caught. Not trying to take away from KZ because he took advantage of the opening. I would like to see them fight that one again. Hominik is a much better fighter than the showing he had the other night.

Oh! And I agree, Jones will likely go a few years on top. There really isn't anyone out there who can handle his strength. He choked out one of the best Light Heavyweights in the game standing up. That **** is crazy!

Mike, Overeem never got the chance to fight Fedor. Fabricio Werdum was the first man to beat Fedor in over 10 years and that was by submission, then "Big Foot" Silva beat the daylights out of him in the StrikeForce Heavy Weight Grand Prix.

But, Overeem should beat Lesnar. He has great striking ability, has good submission skills and defends well against the take down. Watch his fight with Brett Rogers in Strikeforce or Todd Duffee in Dyamite to see his punching power. If you want to see his jiu jitsu and wrestling skills watch his fight against Werdum which wasn't very exciting but showed he is patient and smart. He is an all-around fighter and he is as big as Lesnar, not to mention Overeem is very experienced.

Heavy Weights that are coming up in to the UFC are much more well-rounded fighters. I just don't see Brock being a force in the UFC that he was a few years back.
 
I'll give Overeem a slight advantage, but who knows what will happen, these heavy weights can knock you out with just one punch.
