Your Bye Week Reading Assignment

Here's what BGO looked like the first week and a half into November 2012. Right after the redskins lost to the panthers to drop to 3-6 on the season, heading into the bye. While the volume of this then was significantly higher than what we have now, you'll notice some similar things.

PS: This is not a comment on those posters and their posts per se, some of those are very thoughtful, logical, and rational posts made by people trying to vent and contribute to the forum. Some of them put work/time into it. Just pointing out the lowest of the low point last year, compared to how it ended. It goes along with some of what we're seeing right about now... ;)

Lanky Livingston said:
At one point he was averaging 6 yards per carry, Griffin had 5.7 ypc, and Banks had 2.5 yards per touch. My conclusion: Kyle Shanahan, zero brains per playcall.

BAHAHA - I crack myself up, even a year later. :D

Lots of little beer muscled Dan Snyders in the house tonight. Fire Everyone Now! Yay!
(I literally thought I clicked on the wrong bookmark to that you know other site)

Haha some things are timeless!!

After reading that, looks like me and Henry are the only sane sum beaches around here. :nana:

I think that adds some great perspective. Of course, if the intent is to suggest that we're routinely going to lose most of the games during the first 1/2 of the season, then rattle off 7 straight wins to win the Division, and therefore starting out abysmally is of no concern, thats equally without basis. Just to give the other perspective :)

I just opened the thread titled "Let's List Our Problems" and read several blasphemous statements about Garcon, and had to close it.

Of course the biggest difference, and biggest hurdle to overcome this year is that we had a very mobile QB who was also deadly accurate last season--a true threat. We enjoy neither at the moment.

People are so used to big bust FAs, they're quick to jump on someone like Garcon when he gets injured in his first game.

Totally understandable in many cases, but for a young guy who went for nearly 1,000 yards with Curtis Painter throwing him the ball?

Painter was a step above John Beck. Lol

Oh god I don't think I could handle starting every season that way.

Only intent was to pull some people back from the ledge so they can enjoy the pending 12 game win streak.

;)

It's way to early to write this team off. I am honestly shocked at how many people are freaking out this week, particularly since we finally got the monkey off our back with a win.

Yeah, even though it was ugly.

It's like at the start of the chat when i was saying we just needed a long drive. After three weeks of awfulness this team needed to just start over; like riding a bike. in a few weeks they'll be going look fans, no hands!

I'm far from freaking. I'm being patient. Yes, I get frustrated DURING the games, but afterwards, I try to take a somewhat intelligent look at things. We get a bye week to prepare for Dallas; they do not have a bye week. Is that advantageous to us? Or is it to them?

Advantageous to us, imo Doc. It gives us more time to prepare, and they are gonna be licking their wounds over getting crushed by Denver on Sunday.

I don't know if we're going to turn this thing around or not. I personally think it hinges on how well and how fast Griff gets back into game shape.

But what I do know is that the season is long and very rarely, what appears to be during the first four games is reality for the entire season. The Redskins in particular are a streaky team. We can start out 3-1 and end up 5-11. We can start out 4-6 and end up 10-6. I'm frustrated at the way we've played so far but I learned long ago to watch and wait, no matter how well or how poorly we play over the course of four games.

That is, after all, why we play 16.

That's a great point Henry. Everyone right now has penciled Denver into the Super Bowl, and even winning the game. Craziness. It's a long season. Denver is putting up numbers that NE did 6 years ago, but they started to cool in the 4th quarter of the season and ultimately lost the SB.

There are going to be a few teams that look amazing right now that cool off, and a few teams that look mediocre or worse that will go on a run.

Could be us. We'll see.

I was going to bring up Denver specifically but I'm too lazy. :) I'm willing to bet real money they don't even make it to the Superbowl this year. They are peaking way too early.

I thought he had two appearances, and one win? Didn't he lose to NO?

Getting older sucks. Can't remember for sure.

At any rate, they can't keep this pace up all year, like Henry said, they peaked too early. I don't know who it will be in the AFC but I doubt too it will be Den.

The 7 game streak last year was great, but it can't be a one time deal. The good teams in this league always win 5, 6 or 7 game stretches. That is what makes them great. We simply cannot have a 7 game win streak be an anomaly...it has to be the norm (or at least close to it) if we're ever gonna be a great team again.

I know we are not there yet, but if we are expect this team to be great under Robert, we need to string 5 game win streaks together more often than not...sprinkling in a 7 game win streak on occasion.

Yah, two appearances, one win. He choked against the Saints, throwing a pick-6 to whatshisnuts to seal the deal.
