You can't build a house from the roof up... It starts with the Foundation

We have no foundation on the offensive side.

Now, if you want to talk about the defensive side of the ball and the DL/OLBs than I'd say absolutely, there's a foundation.
That is the issue that encourages me the most. We lacked a foundation on both sides of the ball and had a roster depleted of both starting talent as well as depth in all areas of the team. Shanahan inherited this mess and had (and still has) his work cut out for him. I strongly believe there is no way only one or two offseasons is enough to reverse years of destruction at the hands of Vinny/Snyder.

This past draft is the best I've felt about an offseason in years and it's just a shame we didn't have twice the amount of draft picks so we could've started to address the offense as well. While Shanahan has whiffed on some of the FA offensive solutions he's banked on, I'd like to give him some time (ie, another season or two) of drafts and FA to do on the OL and QB what he did last season with portions of the D.

we had no depth and most of our starters probably would have been backups on other teams. most teams that struggle with coaches and then hire a coach and withen a season or 2 are back in the playoffs have qualified people picking their players. Teams like Pittsburgh their GM picks the players the coaches do have some say but its mainly the GM that picks their players during FA and draft that way when a new coach comes in there is not a big turnover of personell. Other teams do this the 49ers sucked from 2004 till this year but their GM picked players that had his vision and although they miffed on a fewe coaches the foundation was basically set coming into this season
We went from Norvitous to Martyball to puke and chuck to Gibbs to Zorn and puke and now Shanahan Hopefully with Allen even if Shanahan doesnt quite get the results that we require after 4 years Allen will hire the right coach to put the finishing touches on this team
But i think year 4 will have us in the playoffs as long as Allen deleted Vinnys number from Snyders Cell phone

Qb and OL determine what you do on offense.

Forget about backs and receivers.

Perhaps the Redskins should have spent a pick or two there instead of taking 2 running backs and 3 wide receivers.
