FIFA to Censor Stadium Screen Replays

So the answer to bad officiating is to censor what is shown inside the stadium? Seriously?

It's actually for the players' benefit - had Mexico not been able to see the replay they probably wouldn't have gotten so angry at the refs, destroying their focus on the field.

This is not to say that FIFA doesn't need to address their reffing problems, but until that is done I agree that it's actually best not to show controversial plays on the big screen.

If they're not going to use replay, then yea, they should not show controversial replays in the stadium during the game. It's one thing to get ****ed over by a call, it's a whole other thing to get ****ed over then be reminded visually of how you got ****ed over, when you can't even use that video to sway the refs to change their mind.

Did you see the Mexican players up in arms trying to pursuade the refs to do something based on the replay? And did you see them scuffle with the Argetinians going into halftime? They completely lost focus. So yea, given the current circumstances, it benefits the players. That doesn't mean that the system does not need to be ultimately fixed.

That happens in every sport - players get to see the replay of the refs crappy call (except in FedEx b/c of our crappy analog replay screens, til this year). No excuse!

Oh man, how'd you like to be the guy who hit one off the crossbar? Feel terrible for that guy. Japan will be back next year though, they've got some very talented young players. Honda specifically should get some attention from Euro premiere leagues.

It looks that way, Neo. I can't help but wonder if part of it may be to lower the level of complaint enough to defuse the arguments in favor of the adoption of assistive technology? Or maybe I'm just reading too much into this and inferring motives without justification.

Brazil looked like they were cruising until that tying goal which seemed to rattle them completely out of their game-and now they're down to 10 men-could be a big upset in the making here.

I expected a tough match but I expected Brazil to win it. To say I am stunned is an understatement.

Sadly, the match was really marred for me by Robben's constant rolling around on the pitch looking for a foul or card when there was no reason for it. Get off the ground and play the damn game. Be a man.

Also, how vanBommel managed to avoid getting yellow-carded is mystifying.

Ghana up 1-0 at the half. Very entertaining game so far, the momentum has been with Ghana for about the last third of the first half.

Well, that was heartbreaking ending... Wow. Doubt the like has ever been seen before.

Ghana just choked...plain and simple... Uruguay played a tough game and their experience level showed when it counted.

Choked on the Penalty Kick maybe, Boone. But Ghana was the team trying to win the damn thing while Uruguay was playing for Penalty Kicks with time still on the clock. They just kept attacking. To win by taking a Red Card for a hand ball to stop a real goal in real time . . . Pretty lame if you ask me and a real spit in the face of the spirit of the game.

Not sure I could be happy about it if were in Uruguay's shoes.

It was kinda sad to see Ghana lose after the effort they put forth but in that second half, I noticed the inexperience of their players coming through, making mistakes that, had the situation been reversed, Uruguay probably wouldn't have made-their youth worked against them. As you said, Uruguay was playing for a Penalty kick outcome in the extra time where they were pretty confident they'd have an edge and this is why Ghana's attacking look so menacing-I don't think Ghana's inexperience was lost on the team from Uruguay. I will say that last miss by Asomoah in extra time pissed me off-I wanted Ghana to win just to see how their style of play might work against the Netherlands. But they're young and athletic and four years from now, who knows?

And the Suarez red card? Awful.

The most dramatic game of the WC, for me anyway, so far.
