Brees already makes a fortune every year.

The fact that he was willing to modify to get Norman--a guy he's thrown against twice a season--to come to the team speaks volumes as to how good he is.

Opposing players....maybe the best barometer....are all praising the signing.

This is why I refuse to read user comments from fans, under various articles, about the signing.
I'm sure 99% of them will be bashing the signing, and bashing Snyder - all based on how Snyder behaved 20 years ago, and not the Snyder of today.
Although I am curious to see what they're saying on the Panthers' forum, about the loss.

In this era, you build your D on edges. Denver has Miller/Ware/Talib/Harris. Redskins are getting there -- Kerrigan/Galette/Norman/Breeland.

He was good behind a very good line. I'm just not sold that he's worth the money. This just smacks of a big signing mistake. All I can do is hold out hope it's different with Scott making the move.

If it's his D-line that made him look great, then why is it no-one ever talks about the other Panther corners who played behind that line, or why didn't they post such crazy stats as well ?

I'm just hyper sensitive to big signings like this. Only time and success is gonna calm my nerves. Too many of these "Redskins" moves blowing up to dismiss.

So does anyone have the scoop on his durability, any potential injury concerns to date on this guy.

I see a couple of concussions listed with one 'out' because of and a few probables for mcl sprain and contusions in 2013

Most stats would seem to indicate he is a shut down corner. Now, whether he'll be that for the entirety of his contract is a good question. However, to me, this doesn't feel like a Cerrato/Snyder type of signing (.i.e Over paying for a long in the tooth veteran or a one year prior to free agency wonder.)

You're just traumatized from 20 years of mostly disappointment and inept front office moves. Seriously guys, we just picked up a top 3 cornerback. I'm shocked that many view that as a concerning thing. Yes - we paid a lot for him, but it's in the context of a major upcoming cap increase. Yes - he's chippy but that kind of confidendence in a CB is an asset in most cases. There are no guarantees any move will be magical, but adding one of the best players at his position - it's not a negative :) This may be the start of building a scary good defense.
 
Well, as is my usual, any misgivings, or minor concerns, I may have leading up to any potential FA signing, trade, or draft prospect, pretty much ends, once they sign on the dotted line to wear the uniform. What they may, or may not have done, good or bad, somewhere else doesn't concern me much. It's what they do from this point forward that matters to me. Past achievements/transgressions only become points of giddiness/despair, when they affect the Washington Redskins.

I hope Josh eventually is added the list of Redskin's HOF'ers.
 
Surfing around the 'net and seeing reactions from rival fanbases, you see the usual:

"Same old Skins"

"Dan Snyder at it again"

"Snyder hasn't learned anything"

And I'll admit, way down deep, we all had that little voice inside,whispering some of the same things.

But you know what? What they don't realize is, Dan Snyder doesn't run the GM show anymore.

Vinny Cerrato isn't walking through that door(Thank Goodness!).

This is Scott McCloughan's show....and IMO, he's a proven GM, a football grinder that eat,sleeps and breathes football.

Let not your heart be troubled.

Remember, the adults are in charge now. :thumbsup:

One thing I love about good old (and yeah, you're old) Elephant...

He'll be skeptical about possible draft choices and potential free agents at times and for good reasons. He will also point it out a few years later when the bust potential is realized. Rightfully so. But no one can argue his loyalty when that player is signed and wears a Redskins uniform.

It's a lot of money.

Assuming he is that good ... he's a corner. I'm just a little shocked we'd be willing to make a corner the highest paid (non-QB) player on the team. I would save that honor for a LT or an elite pass rusher or maybe, maybe a top notch DT. But a corner? Corners just aren't generally the centerpiece of a defense. Now, there are always exceptions to any rule, and McLovin is a proven non-idiot, and maybe Barry has a long range plan involving making the secondary the focus of the defense. And even if that's not the case I'm sure we will be better with Norman than without him.

But ... it's a lot of money. I'm concerned about that. Even if Norman is as good as advertised.

Here's hoping he is.
