It's funny, my initial driveby thought would be 'It's crazy early to be talking in those terms about McLaurin'. But what's even crazier is that it's NOT too early - he's the real deal. On top of being just a crazy good WR, and a 'gamer' in the same sense that Heinicke is, he's probably the smartest player on this team. He understands not just what has to happen on Sundays, but he gets what Rivera and company are trying to accomplish long-term. He always says the right thing, and he's always part of creating that right environment the coaching staff is trying to build. An example came just yesterday. When Rivera gave him one of the game balls, you know what McLaurin's first response was? He thanked his teammates for lifting him up after that bad drop he made. He's the most accountable guy on this roster. That is just awesome.
So to answer your question, do I think McLaurin is going to be an all-time great who ends up beloved by fans and having his number retired?
It's certainly possible.
