There are so many good ones! Let's nominate some of our favorite BGO screenames and once we have a good list we will do a poll to ID our top 3 favorites.

I've already reconciled myself to the reality that 'Boone' isn't going to make the cut, lol...

Let's have some categories:

1. Best Redskins Tribute name
2. Most Humorous
3. Most Clever
4. Most inappropriate

What you got people?

Winners get some BGO swag.

You forgot most dumb.

I probably have the dumbest name. It comes from the old Redskins newsgroup on USENET which I had joined in the late 90s. It was completely unmoderated so there was a lot of rudeness. And one of the main posters on there called me a homer. And so I responded, Yeah That's right, I am a Homer! Then I changed my name on there to Mark The Homer. So during this time I was obsessed with game jerseys and I was always searching the internet for info. And IIRC, I fell upon the player database on ES. It was a great resource for finding player numbers matched with names. And so I kept coming back to it. I can't remember if I had to join to access the database, but maybe so. Seems to me I was accessing ES before I had joined, but can't remember for sure. But eventually I joined. Can't remember for sure, but I'm gonna guess it was 2004. So that would be why I joined. And then, little by little, ES pulled me away from USENET. Also, AOL stopped providing "free" access to USENET. So that ended that. And then one day DH and I were discussing gamers in PMs, and we realized we were in a conversation on USENET way back years earlier about gamers. Small world!

So here I am almost 30 years later with the same dumb name. :-(

BTW, I had joined BGO a long time ago as MTH, but I rarely posted. I was too busy in ES. So I think my name got culled from the herd. I had to join again from scratch.

I also have a vague memory of BGO going dark? Like the founders had decided to close it down after quite a few years? Is that right? I guess you changed your minds. Kinda like DH changed his mind.

That database was a thing of genius. I believe it was probably a Die Hard innovation. At some point, I helped out with the data entry for that (and obviously, adding all of that data was an incredible undertaking, most of which Die Hard probably did himself). I think the loss of that database was probably the single saddest thing about the team taking over the site. Had they given a shit, they probably could've retained it, but they weren't interested at that kind of detail level. I think I recall someone actually hacking into the site and stealing the database but I might be wrong about that.

Awesome feature and a shame it couldn't be carried forward.

What name could possibly by better for a Washington fan than Burgold. It even survived all the name switches without a scratch.

But seriously, I've always loved Om... As many heart attacks as this team has given us over the years I think that sense of zen and calm during a game, that meditative grace was something to aspire to.

All-time Redskins game database
All-time Redskins front office/coach database
All-time Redskins Player database
All-time Redskins draft pick database
Complete Mock Draft GM database
Contest software
The most comprehensive Redskins DVD game library.

And those were only some of the great features we had.

And all they really wanted is everyone’s email address to spam their wares…. and threw the rest away.

Blade built the databases… and I collected the data and did the data entry. If I subjected you to the data entry John… I’m sorry 😂

We've tried to recreate some others... Pickem and other contests... Media Guide library.... Countdown Clock.... Extreme 'Spy' (we call it 'NFL Spy')...Birthday widget...

Early ES was our target.
