While I think luck plays a huge role, I believe Brown says that they hit their marks. They had defined places where they were supposed to be. They do practice the tip drill.

I think one other thing that is crazy was I remember PFT (I think) saying that McLauren's game winning bomb a few weeks ago had like a five percent completion chance. In the same season, we scored a walk off victory on a Hail Mary. Two nearly impossible plays in one season!!!

There are 3 I put into the top category post glory years:

- Daniels to Brown Hail Mary
- Blocked FG/ST return, Novak winning FG
- Monday Night Miracle

The other 2 are against Dallas, and that’s a thing.

I’d probably put Monday Night Miracle first, Daniels Hail Mary second and the blocked FG sequence third only because that one came in a lost season with a bad team in a game which in the end meant nothing.

Monday Night Miracle also had the Gibbs vs. Parcels factor and it kicked off the last season which ended with a playoff win.
 
In my opinion, it is the single greatest moment in Washington football over the past 32 years. My reasons:

Moments like the MNF Miracle, Sean Taylor clinching a playoff spot diving in the end zone at Philly, and others that have been brought up previously in the thread, while great, were moments for Washington teams that never really were going to have a chance to compete for championships. Am I suggesting this team is a championship contender right now? Not even close. That said, this is a team in the infancy stages of creating something special down the road on the strength of what could be a true franchise in Jayden Daniels. Special teams require special moments and signature wins that help propel the group to new heights. The Noah Brown play could turn out to be one of those moments down the road where we look back and say that is where we officially turned the corner.

More importantly, the euphoria and hysteria over the Hail Mary catch proved that the sleeping giant known as Washington football has officially woke up. Dan Snyder tried to kill us all, but here we still are - as passionate as ever, as loyal as ever, and as hungry as ever to win. Call us whatever the hell you want - I believe the passion was rekindled for many last night and the sun is still shining up ahead. We are Washington and we are ready to shed all those past demons.
 
Lord it's 20 years ago, but the Monday Night Miracle didn't feel quite so hopeless as the Brown Hail Mary. I mean, yeah it was bad, but we still had something like 4 mins left to score (which we did - twice) and then it was really just about our defense killing that last Dallas drive. There was hope here. From the first Moss TD the hope started to build that there was time. Then the stop on Dallas. Then the second TD. Then we were leading. It was a very long drawn out moment that led to something special.

The Noah Brown Hail Mary was one of those moments that happens so fast that you don't quite believe what you say. 2 Secs on the clock and over 50 yards away. There was no chance we were winning that game. NO CHANCE!. And my heart felt it. Just a sinking feeling that we'd let that game slip away.
Even when they scored, in my head I'm like "Jayden has this. We have 25 seconds to drive to FG range. The man is clutch!"

But when we ended up so far away with 2 secs left, knowing that a FG was no longer an option, I was just ready to accept defeat, Say goodnight in the chat channel and slink off to bed fed up.

And then the miracle happened. Holy Sh*t! It was just such a sudden transfer of emotion from dejection to elation in a moment. I went to bed but didn't sleep for an hour I was buzzing so much.

I'd love to think a Superbowl win is on the cards this year, but I'm not that deluded. But this is the first time in a LONG TIME that I've really felt that this team can play with anyone. And I don't mean in just a fiesty underdog they wouldn't want to see way. This team FEELS like a top 10 team at least. It has flaws, but then so do a lot of top teams. I'm not sure we'd beat the Detroits or Kansas City's of the league quite yet, but we'd give them a run I think (just like we did Baltimore) and off the top of my head I'm not sure there's anyone else that truly scares me.

CH had it right in the post just above. This is a special moment for what it might represent. The coming of age of the new Washington team.

Exciting times. And I think there are more exciting times to come.

Actually I heard multiple players state they DON’T practice the tip drill, because it involves running the length of the field and jumping into each other and the risk of injury is higher. They do review responsibilities for the Hail Mary scenario per the players I heard asked this but they don’t actually practice it. To me that makes pulling one off even more impressive.
 
Today, I heard something about the receivers forming a diamond pattern and every player being in the right spot. So yeah, maybe what you said is what I misheard. They practice the blocking and positioning, but not the volleyball itself.

That was a great moment. I was at that game. Mike Vander Jack at that time was absolute money and for us to block that field goal and to get the 15 yards at the end of the run on the facemask was huge .Nick Novak lining up with zeros left on the clock to kick the go ahead, game-winning field goal was absolutely insane

Funny coming from a fan who’s own quarterback’s best ability is to get pushed from behind.
 
One play accurately described as electric by the great (lol) Larry Michael was the 70+ yard TD run by RG3 in 2012. It sealed a victory against the Vikings. But earlier that weekend the Nats had suffered a devastating loss in their first playoff appearance, and it seemed like the city needed a pick-me-up moment.

As a 44 year vet, nothing compares to the 1982 NFCCG TD by Darrell Grant. Not even the Riggins SB run, if you were there at that time, that was when we knew we could beat Dallas and therefore would surely win the SB.

I was at the Sean Taylor picked up block game too. Since that was a division rival, that's way up there on my list. This was a big moment and huge play, still.

For balance…I was also at the f’n Rocket Ismail game and was the last person to exit the stadium’s seating area. Security walked to the top of 454 and told me I had to go. 🤣
 
Again, this thread is supposed to concentrate on post Gibbs 1 moments. The Hail Mary resulted in a significant early season win, but certainly not the significance of Grants INT in the NFCCG or Riggos SB run.

The best comparison I think to Gibbs 1 for sheer improbability was the Aikman fumble in the end zone in 1992 that gave us a victory in a late season game at RFK.
 
The biggest reason the Noah Brown catch can be considered the most important catch in 30 years is the fact the play shows the unique talent and ability of the quarterback who showed the mobility, vision and balance to get off the pass and put it into position to be contested in the end zone.

It is the hope and belief in Jayden Daniels being more than a guy like Mark Brunell and other late career vets we have had here that the Brown catch is just the beginning of the highlight plays we are going to see (y)

I'd say that the Noah Brown play just shows that we can have some good luck too. it seems that this team for so long only had the bad things happen. Of course that is what happens to bad teams but it shows that they are finally good enough for the occasional good luck stuff to matter.

Compare that to all the luck that got the Giants into Super Bowls. Like in 1990, Roger Craig fumbles the NFCCG away, then in 2011 the 49ers punt returner gives that game away as well. Then in the SB that helmet catch.

When has that crazy stuff happened for the Redskins?
