Agree. I see Herbig as a better version of Deiter and Deiter as a camp/emergency body. Don't think he will be on the final roster. Tunsil, Allagretti, Biadasz, Wylie, Coleman. Not sure when Cosmi gets back but he may take a while to recapture his old effectiveness anyhow so can't count on him this season. Not sure what the deal with Trent Scott is, he really was not a good tackle. Maybe they will try him as a backup guard. Or WR?

I'm fine with any combination of Tunsil, Allegretti, Biadasz, Herbig, Coleman, Wylie and Paul to start the season. Cosmi to return late in the season. That's a good place to start with no real weak players, maybe a guard in the draft and hopefully Coleman can be a really good RT.
 
As Utah said, Chris Paul did better than average vs Jalen Carter in the NFCCG. I wonder how he fits this season.
 
Yeah, I think one thing Quinn and Peters learned is that a finesse offensive and defensive line will not work against the big boys (or at least won't work that well against Philly)
 
This big fella has been repped by our own Logan Paulsen. That might not mean anything but watch his tape. He's rated as a 4th to 7th round prospect. I think whoever gets him, gets a steal.

 
Interesting news about Wylie restructure. I tend to agree with Bill-in-Bangkok (author) on his notes at the end. I would think if they wanted Wylie to be here longer, the deal they get him on has more term. He is now a 1-year rental like others.

The part with the heading: "What can we infer from this renegotiated contract?" - he has some good points, I thought.

To start the season, I wouldn’t be surprised if the configuration is Tunsil, Herbig, Biadasz, Wylie, and Coleman. Allegretti and Paul are probably our interior backups. When Cosmi comes back, I’d imagine Wylie competes for the other guard position or becomes the swing tackle. Tunsil, Herbig, Biadasz, Cosmi, and Coleman, on paper, is orders of magnitude better than last year.
 
Wylie goes to RG and Coleman to RT.

If Coleman or Tunsil get hurt, Wylie kicks out to RT.

Herbig is great at back up C and we have Paul and Deiter to back up the interior.

OL looks a hell of a lot different this year after losing 1 (Cosmi) and adding 2(Tunsil and Herbig.)
 
What a difference two years make. Let's assume our starting five is Tunsil, Coleman, Biadazz, Cosmi, and Conerly with Andrew Wylie taking the Cornelius Lucas role and Allegretti being the top backup for guard and center.

On paper, you have to feel good about that.

These were our o line players in 2023:
T Charles Leno Jr.: 13 games (13 starts).
G Saahdiq Charles: 11 games (10 starts)
C Tyler Larsen: 14 games (7 starts)
G Sam Cosmi: 17 games (17 starts)
T Andrew Wylie: 15 games (15 starts)
T Braeden Daniels: IR
C Nick Gates: 13 games (10 starts)
G Chris Paul: 10 games (7 starts)
G Julian Good-Jones: 1 game
T Alex Akingbulu: 2 games
T Cornelius Lucas*: 17 games (4 starts)
T Trent Scott: 10 games (2 starts)
C/G: Ricky Stromberg: 4 games (IR)

I think we have only two players left from unit. One is injured and a presumptive starter and one is a bubble player likely to get cut. We have almost entirely remade Rivera's line in two years.
 
Tunsil and Biadasz are quality starters still in their primes.

Coleman and Conerly give us two athletic players under 25 to bring along and improve both strength and athleticism of starting 5.

With Cosmi working to come back mid year at 26, I think we have the outlines of a good OL, perhaps the best we have had here since Trent and Scherff were playing together.

Daniels can play with good but not great wide receivers and still make the engine go, but he needs the protection up front over 17 games.

The loss to the Eagles showed how vulnerable we were on both lines in re size and strength.
