WR/Edge IMO...I voted WR for reasons mentioned above, unless addressed in FA.

Like it has been said so many times, we need an infusion of youth at many positions

Anything and everything. Best player available.

I will vote TE because it gives Jayden another weapon or blocking help. Anyone notice the last two SB champs have had scary defenses?

But if a stud CB or LB shows up first when we pick, so be it.

Edge over WR by a slight margin and everything after a peg lower.

If I had to pick #3 it would be CB.

I get KDawg's point about RB. I just have a different angle on it.

Do I really want a RB badly. Yes. Would a great RB help this team? You bet.

It's sort of like being a teenager and being 20 pounds over weight and wanting to win over an attractive girl. Would upgrading your wardrobe (RB) go a long way to getting her -- you bet! But you aren't getting her if you don't take that 20 pounds off first (WR-ED-CB)

I’d argue the opposite. The receiver is the pretty dress. The back is the weight training routine and cash.

Also, it’s more about availability as well.

Love and Hall are the best players between those two positions, imo. If we get, say, Etienne would I prefer a receiver at 7 if we go Offense? Yes. But we need to add a high end back.

Disagree about the pretty dress. But If you think if they sign Etienne you'd prefer a WR at 7 -- that's exactly what I am saying so we on the same page mostly.

I thought so too but you said we disagreed. And I disagree with your disagreement about our disagreement

I believe what Ron Wolf said that you build a team with a quarterback and a pass rush on defense.

You fill in everything else around that.

It’s been years since we drafted and got big production from an edge rusher and especially one that was consistently excellent and durable unlike Young and Orakpo.

It’s time.

The team just can fix all of these issues in one offseason, we should manage our own expectations.

My feeling is fixing the offense is possible this offseason, but not both.....and I doubt fixing the defense entirely this year is within the realm of possibility. I'd rather fix the offense, because its not too far off and protecting JD should be priority #1. Agree with KDawg that adding a dynamic RB would bridge the gap, but must be pared with improving the WR room...even if the improvements aren't adding an alpha WR (i.e., increase base line WR talent such as some Jennings types, doesn't need to be top line). The rebuild of the defense is going to take some time, adding a couple FAs will get it started this offseason but won't be complete.

I'll go either way with our 1st round pick, but the offense needs s/b a priority to insulate JD.

Running Back is the highest attrition position in the league. Most backs, even a number taken high, don’t get second contracts from the teams that draft them.

I still think there is a middle game at RB between rostering 30 year old backs like Ekeler and MacNichols who are journeymen and spending big in free agency or at top of draft.

Well? What about the personality and the wallet? I'm a Shrek looking MF but have always had great luck!
🤣🤣🤣

WR. Weapon for Jayden is priority 1 for me. Can be WR, RB, or TE but I’ll go with receiver since it’s the premium position of the three and looks like it will be the most difficult to fill.

It's a lot harder to find a premier pass rusher than a #2 receiver.

The Seahawks won the Super Bowl with 33 year old free agent Cooper Kupp. The Cowboys went out and found a #2 to pair with CeeDee Lamb for 2025.

This team desperately needs a dominant player in the front four and we have seen from the Garrett and other contracts you aren't going to get that type of player as a free agent or indeed on anything less than a franchise busting contract.

Much better to invest the draft capital as we did with Daniels and get off the merry-go-round of trying to find veterans that can 'fit in' to the defense for 1-2 years.

The defense won't start climbing the rankings in a consistent way until we abandon the bandaid mentality.

McVay and Reid are known as offensive coaches but they spread the wealth and use #1 picks on front four rushers - McVay took Jared Verse high in Round 1 despite Kupp moving on and the need for a guy across from Nakua. Reid drafted Chris Jones and Karlaftis in Rounds 1 and 2 for the defense when he could have taken a WR or running back, when there were needs there at the time.

While I agree a pass rusher is a big need - their DEs are 31 and 33 with 7 and 6 sacks. Both FA acquisitions. Those aren’t immaculate numbers considering Armstrong had 5.5 before going down in game 7. This is mostly to point to your older receivers getting it done and not being able to find a premier DE. Obviously sacks don’t tell the whole story and pressure doesn’t always equal sacks. However, a good scheme by a good play caller can make the world of difference.

It’s been pointed out here before and I’ve seen talent evaluators mention the cornerstone positions needed are QB, LT, WR on offense and DE and maybe a step down CB for defense. We have the first two. There’s been debates over the years whether terry is WR1 or WR1b. Jury’s out on CB and we obviously need a DE. Personally, the highest priority for me is DE. That being said it’s dependent on who is there and if we can get someone like Chubb in FA. WR is a very close second and I’d be more inclined to draft one at 7.

Agree to a point, but I wouldn't count on Armstrong coming back in 2026 and repeating his 2025 start.

Rehabbing an ACL from what we have seen for anyone not named Adrian Peterson is usually a process where the player takes the NEXT season to get back on the field and rebuild momentum and then get back 100% the season AFTER, so then we are looking at 2027.

So, I think we are looking at essentially adding an entire new group at DE.

If Jones agrees that he can work with Payne and Kinlaw at DT, then you could see a LOT of activity at DE - a combination of a major free agent signing and move in the draft as well.

Good overlooked point, Armstrong will probably take half of the season to get back to playing like he did last season. Always a slow return from knee surgery like that

TE solidarity! Though I voted for TE becuase we don’t have one on the roster.

I put edge rusher, but that’s simply because it’s similar to QB but on the other side of the ball. If you don’t have a premium one, you’re always looking. That said, I’m not convinced that question can even get addressed this off season, but that wasn’t the question. I have a feeling we will still be looking for a top level edge rusher next off season, and it won’t be because we missed out on someone.

I could see them signing Hendrickson. And that would solve that problem for maybe 2 years. I’m t wouldn’t help with average team age though and some folks would scream.

But think there’s at least a reasonable possibility they swing big for him because he’s possibly the best FA in the class.

This remains a multi-year rebuild. For next year, the only thing that matters is protecting JD5. We must approach the defense as a process, won't get fixed this offseason.
