IT should have been posted sooner and my apologies if already posted (do not see one), but going into tonight's draft what is our biggest positional need?

I know we should draft BPA regardless but I still wonder what you guys think. You can select up to 3 positions of your preference.

I wanted to check every box but punter and QB but only allowed 3. In that case:

Edge
RB
DT*

*I'm not sold on Johnny Newton, and Payne is on the way out. I have no idea how they plan on using Kinlaw but IMO the FAs are a collection of JAGs.

I think with the kind of defense our division rivals have or are building, it's important that we continue to solidify our OL (Rd 2/3) and RB position, that is also a good blocker. Keeping that in mind, for me it is:
RB
Edge
OL

What DG said. In that order. But I might add a solid Tackle too, which would push Coleman inside to guard. If we’re going to be able to combat the likes of Jalen Carter, we really need to shore up the inside of the line.

Random question: isn’t there a guy from the Steelers we picked up along the offensive line? I can’t seem to remember who though.

Nate Herbig, Guard but was slated to start at Centre for the Steelers before getting injured so gives us flexibility/cover.

I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up ahead of Allegretti in the pecking order after training camp.

So glad we have a QB

It wouldn't let me vote Edge 3x.

Everything else is noise.

I know folks will say CB (and yeah, that can't hurt), but our current corners will blow folks away with the benefit of an improved pass rush.

Yeah, a dynamic back behind Eckler would be nice, but I think our running game may have already gotten the shot in the arm it needs with the O-line improvements.

Some will say CB over EDGE but I agree, Neophyte.

I don’t know if these are biggest but I would love to have a stud at RB and K, been a long time since we’ve had either.

Not enough concern with safety around here, in my opinion.

I think we have two major code red positions:

Edge and Safety.

I think we have options at Edge that could negate SOME of that (but potentially weaken LB/DT in the process with Luvu/Kinlaw).

Our best safety is Quan Martin who, at the moment, is a better than average player. We have nothing else with experience/starting safety ability.

Jeremy Chinn was one of our most valuable players last year - do not underestimate his loss and lack of replacement.

With you, but I do think some of our UDFA guys will help. I like Tre Rucker and especially Robert McDaniel's potential.

I refuse to fall into the “UDFA” will save us trap again. Not saying they won’t. Just not going to invest in that thought until they show it.

I am not remotely sold on Will Harris being anything other than a guy.

I’m not a Will Harris guy either - he was a bust and a scrub before this season with the Saints.

I’m not sure how much he’ll help this year but it’s a big reason I was hoping we would snag Medrano.

Edge was the most voted position and we didn't even take even a flyer 🤷‍♂️

RB was the next voted position and we didn't take one until the very last 🤷‍♂️

They must know what we don't and may have a plan to address or go to season with what we have and probably address in the next year. It takes time as most allude to from time to time and I am in the group who trust our front office to eventually address them. Draft must have fallen the way they took players who they thought were high value and did not offer advantage where they would have taken trades.

Honestly, we have hits on the top end of draft last year and there were not many hits in the lower rounds...yet, even in 3rd round, save for Coleman may be. But what we hit were blockbuster type picks. Hope our top picks hit again right out of the bat.
