What are your Hobbies??

So anyway, did I ever tell you about this one time I caught an 80 lb salmon
with my bare hands????

That's not all that unbelievable.

Now if it was a 15" fish that you caught with a rod and reel in 500'+ of water in a place where nobody has caught that type of fish for twenty years I would be impressed! :moon:

Beard growing. There's a man's hobby. Women seem to hate it for the most part, but guys seem to be oddly impressed by a strong beard. I never thought I'd get high-fived or complimented for facial hair. It's like being a member of a secret club that's so secret you don't even know you're in it.

If you saw me in real life you'd know that would be completely unbelievable.

I've caught salmon, but definitely not 80 lbs and definitely not with my bare hands. I have a hard enough time fighting a 20-25 lb into the boat

Typical Extreme - comes into a thread, thumps his chest and lies out of his tookus, then when called on it, accuses the other person of that very thing. LOL. Like I said earlier - at least he's consistent!

One fish per reef!

You two are like an old married couple. It has taken me a while to appreciate your relationship but now I do.

LOL, Thats funny! I actually did have images of my grandparents bickering while reading this thread! They always played up bickering as a couple, it ended up being endearing rather than annoying once we realized that they did it almost in good fun and how it was simply a part of their relationship.

LOL. Yep, we have a pretty simple relationship. Extreme lies, and I call him on his bullsh!t. :)

Except you didn't call me out on anything, you stated your opinion, which you're entitled to no matter how wrong it is :D

Neither of you fools has still produced a single shred of anything that counters a single thing I said, but I have provided things, but I'm the liar? Come on now son, you gotta come better prepared than that. Your opinion is not the truth, neither is DMs, although I'm sure you've both convinced yourselves otherwise during your circle jerk :brood:

So if the going thing now is that someone is a liar just because you think they are, then we're all liars. Why cite anything, why debate, why provide evidence? We're all just full of ****. I provide evidence, and I'm the liar? You and DM state your opinions, crack childish jokes, fabricate things I never said, and YOU are the fountain of truth? Did I fall down a rabbit hole or something?

And DM is the only one in this thread that said anything about one fish per reef. But in your traditional predictable style - you find someone to agree with your bs, then you run with it - facts be damned. I even elaborated more in depth after he made his dumbass one fish per reef comment, but I guess you skimmed over that, because that didn't mesh well with your back patting. He completely fabricated **** he claims I said, that you can clearly go back and see I never said, and that is what you choose to run with to make your case? Come on Lanky, you were smarter before you dropped weight classes, did you have a lobotomy or something?

Nope, just you.

Just kidding, Ex - I totally believe your story of catching a super rare fish with your uncle Captain Ahab, on his shrimpin' boat "Jenny." Totally!

Orange Roughy have only become rare in the past 6-7 years. Before then, they were abundant. Not that you will because it will make you look like an ass, but you can look it up to verify. The only reason the numbers have diminished is because they're slow at reproducing. They live over 100 years, but they're usually 25-35 years old before they ever reproduce, which is why they've steadily declined.

Was the Roughy named Nemo? And you were with your friend Dory when you caught it? I think you have the wrong species, friend. :)

Sorry to disappoint you since I know you think I have no clue what an orange roughy is, but you can't confuse it with any other fish in the ocean. That's as dumb as asking, "are you sure it was a catfish?" There is no confusing roughy. One of the first jobs I ever had back in '95 was fileting fish orders at a local restaurant. The prize at the time? Orange Roughy. I fileted on average about 2 dozen per weekend (the only time it was on the menu). I'm pretty confident in my fish identification abilities. Not that I expect you to believe that, and not that I give two ****s whether you do or not.

Hey Lanky, let me suggest some attire for you to wade through the curious case of Ex's rod caught orange roughy...(from his uncles blue and white boat that was rusty and smelled like piss. Somewhere NE of NS CAN with a "reef rig") You may want the optional rubber turtle neck too its getting deep.

Extreme had an awful day fishing on the lake, sitting in the blazing sun all day without catching a single one. On his way home, he stopped at the supermarket and ordered four catfish. He told the fish salesman, "Pick four large ones out and throw them at me, will you?"

"Why do you want me to throw them at you?"

"Because I want to tell my wife that I caught them."

"Okay, but I suggest that you take the orange roughy."

"But why?"

"Because your wife came in earlier today and said that if you came by, I should tell you to take orange roughy. She prefers that for supper tonight."

Are you done yet, or are you having too much fun acting like my 7 year old?

Thank you all...very much! I had fun in this thread! I laughed a little. I cried a little. Now, Ex...Lanky...you 2 are as stubborn as I am so I know this is going to be difficult, but can we get back on track!?!??!

I am interested to know what camera you decided on, DM?

And I am thinking we should all plan a trip to see Win in Alaska! You got enough room for 12-15 of us Win? Maybe we can see Katie catching an 80 pound King Salmon, Ex can bring his reef rig, I will bring the camera, HOF can bring the bourbon, DM is gonna bring his boat, Jenny...and Lanky and Mike will bring the beer. Goal...you just bring your little pink thing, just keep it sheathed! Boone will be renting the small bus to get us around, all the while threatening to pull it over if we don't stop acting like children! Ss, you just bring your big heart and help Boone keep the motley crew in order on the bus.

Hey I ordered the D7000 with a 18-55mm, 70-300mm, another lense can't remember size and various goodies like bags batteries, filters and tripods. I had a credit on Amazon that I was able to apply to ease the pain.

Can't wait to get my hands on it!!! I may just have to name her Jenny!!! Glad yall are having as much fun in this thread as I have.

Its even inspired a new smiley:

Have fun with it DM. The best piece of advice I can give anyone who buys a new DSLR is to read the Owner's Manual. It really is that simple.

I've always been into nature pics and landscapes but let me tell you... the people watching in LA has got me itching to photo document some of the weird ass **** I see every day. I look forward to taking days off and just walking around with my camera to see what I can actually capture.

Thanks for the tips, I intend to. I've been messing around during some of my travel and would like to get better at it.

Here's a few from the past few years I aim to improve upon...

Each one of them I wish I did something just a little different.... It can be quite the obsession huh?

EDIT: Yeah I photochopped a couple from the carib to play with the colors
