What are your Hobbies??

Speaking of fishing i'm hitting the ice tomorrow. Mirror lake in Wasilla is holding a monster for me. Gonna do work on the rainbow's.

I promise I'm not just talking out of my ass. I've lived the life of a fisherman for over 30 years, my whole family as far back as I can remember fishes year round multiple days a week. I can't remember the last time I didn't go fishing at least 100 times in a year. I kinda know what I'm talking about, and the other avid fishermen here who I won't drag into it, can verify what I'm saying.

I promise you the weak ass responses you brought in this thread toward others are just that.... you ARE talking out of your ass. You kinda know what your talking about? That I can agree with.. kinda. I'm one of the other avid fishermen on this site and I can verify that you know a little and are pretending to know more.

I kept my mouth shut about as long as I could in regards to your fishing prowess. Just shut it already, you're not as special and good looking as your mom told you so put the bass pro shops catalog down and stop trying to argue like you're a regular on the outdoor channel.

I am the aforementioned "waterman" you speak of earlier in the thread. And you're coming off as a big ass in this thread. I grew up on the bay... shad, crabs, oysters and clams were how my family survived for my first 15 years on this planet. I've commercial fished for just about anything you can find between Canada and South America, especially those pesky "tropical" fish known as grouper in that arctic region known as North Carolina. I've captained head boats from Mass to FL as well as charter fishing vessels from 28' to 68' from Canada to Central America and South America.

Now, I'm the weekend angler, the tournament angler, the traveling sportfisherman, the struggling commercial fisherman, the snobby guy who only wants to catch billfish once in a while - all rolled into one. I've been fortunate to follow my dreams all over the globe and have even gotten paid for it some of the time. You've only caught rockfish from a pier... I once followed an entire stock of fish from Mass to the outer banks fishing from shore and boat for hundreds of miles over 2 months for a tagging program catching thousands of them.

Oh and I definitely know the difference between pelagic fish and tropical fish.

My point? Not to brag that's for sure I'm sure there's a ton of things you and others here are good at which I am not, but to see you talking **** to someone else about it got me a little bent. So you've caught a few fish and know a few things... there's always a bigger fish.

Hey I don't know **** about coins. Difference between you and me is I'm not gonna try to tell you I do. I'm definitely not gonna try to tell you I found an Australian Proof 1930 Penny in the ashtray of my Uncle's '57 Chevy.

:eclipsee_Victoria:

EDIT: Oh yeah one of my favorite hobbies is fishing. Anybody else?

That looks absolutely beautiful.
I had an uncle take me ice fish spearing up on the great lakes. We didn't catch anything but it was something to see all the tents on the ice. It was like a little town on the ice.

He even let me drive his truck on the ice and that was an absolute blast :)

Have fun - hope you catch lots.

Awwww, I bet saying that gave you your first internet stiffy didn't it? They grow up so fast

I am the aforementioned "waterman" you speak of earlier in the thread.
Oooooh, you must be the one they wrote all those fishing bibles about. Very pleased to meet you oh mighty aforementioned waterman. I bet that line gets all the girls wet

And you're coming off as a big ass in this thread.

1. I am a big ass, and not just in this thread. You're gonna have to be a little more observant if you wanna play with the big kids Timmy :nono:

2. You're violating forum rules with your badgering. I demand to speak to my e-lawyer :furious2:

I grew up on the bay... shad, crabs, oysters and clams were how my family survived for my first 15 years on this planet. Now where'd I put your cookie? You deserve one for that. I should find it by the time you're done patting yourself on the back

News flash: I'm poor. I've always been poor. The outdoors is how my family still survives. And while you grew up on the bay, I grew up on the bay, the ocean, lakes, rivers, etc. and have never left. 33 years of life on the water. Does that mean I have a just pissed further than you? :paranoid:

Now, I'm the weekend angler, the tournament angler, the traveling sportfisherman, the struggling commercial fisherman, the snobby guy who only wants to catch billfish once in a while - all rolled into one.
Ewwww. That's a whole lotta dudes. Awwwwwkward.

Damn. I'm not the smartest guy in the world, but I bet that definitely means your dick is bigger than mine. Maybe you pissed farther. Maybe you should come pleasure my wife. It's obvious I'm inadequate, and she deserves to be compensated handsomely for all she does :embarassed:

Oh and I definitely know the difference between pelagic fish and tropical fish.
So does google ;)

My point?
There isn't one :)

Not to brag that's for sure I'm sure there's a ton of things you and others here are good at which I am not, but to see you talking **** to someone else about it got me a little bent.
A little bent? Scratch what I said about you pleasuring my wife, that might freak her out :lipsrsealed2:

So you've caught a few fish and know a few things... there's always a bigger fish.
 Yeah, I've caught one or two. I won't shame you for this, it's too easy.

Hey I don't know **** about coins. Difference between you and me is I'm not gonna try to tell you I do. I'm definitely not gonna try to tell you I found an Australian Proof 1930 Penny in the ashtray of my Uncle's '57 Chevy.

And flashing your e-balls at the world, it's important not to leave out those things that really get you somewhere in life.

I have no smiley to fit this one, so.......:toilet:

Enjoy being the master of the universe and defeating the internet.

The fact that I fished more than you and know more about it means nothing in the world really. It just means that I know you lied about catching orange roughy somewhere NE of nova scotia on your uncles blue and white boat that was rusty and smelled like piss? Glad we cleared that up. All fisherman lie at some point, you just got caught at it. Nice defense though, way to stick to the topic. Glad you noticed that my dick is bigger than yours and I piss further. You were doing the exact same thing to someone else before I got involved. I start to wonder how many other topics you pretend to be an authority on around here? Oh and... your Mom. :D :D :D

You think you know more about what I've done than I do? And here I was being accused of being the most arrogant member. Passing the torch my friend, carry it well. Are you mad because I didn't shy away from your pointless questions and blew up your chance of riding my ass because you thought I was gonna spew some unknowledgeable bs? Until you can refute a single thing I said with any kind of evidence, you haven't earned the right to argue.

All fisherman lie at some point, you just got caught at it.
Got caught? WTF? Not only did I not lie, but I didn't get caught. If you wanna throw **** hoping it sticks, go throw it somewhere else, you're embarrassing yourself.

I start to wonder how many other topics you pretend to be an authority on around here?
Plenty, but outside of politics which is mostly just trash talk that nobody is right about, I don't argue about things I'm not extremely knowledgeable about. Believe it or not, there are plenty of people in the world that know a lot about multiple topics. My specialties are coins, most auto repair, electronics, all home repair, cooking, gardening, and fishing. Look around - outside of politics and football, I don't argue about stuff not related to these. Just because you came in here thumping your chest and declaring yourself the be all end all expert when you're not, it doesn't mean I'm lying. But if it makes you feel better to think that, well you go right on ahead. I'll even help you climb back up on your pedestal.

Oh and... your Mom. :D :D :D
Joke's on you

lol reef rig
Lol, reef rig.

reef-fish.jpg

I swear, some people are truly just.......

If you've never seen this, your entire story is horse ****. So instead of continuing to drag your knuckles and beat your chest, you attempt to refute something I've said with something other than your irrelevant opinion? It should be easy since you seem to think I'm lying Mr. Expert.

Where's that reef you caught roughy on Ex? I have a CV the length of my arm with my experience. You have a story about catching orange roughy on a reef rig, on your uncles blue and white boat that was rusty and smelled like piss. How much weight you use on that reef rig for orange roughy Ex? :nana:

When you're going after reef fish like grouper, roughy, snapper, etc. or sheepshead and spadefish, you can use the same setup with each - a simple bobber with a crab or clam on the end, right up against a structure. These essentially end up being a one species rig, because even though you can catch any reef fish with it, you aren't going to have multiple different types of reef fish all together in one spot fighting for your affection.

:paranoid:

Crabbing with pots isn't crabbing, that's lady stuff.

:twitch:

Well your friend apparently doesn't fish either. I live next to a charter boat captain....

:clown:

most fishing in tropical waters is sport fishing. I don't fish for sport, I fish to eat the fish :D

Every person in tropical waters is a sport fisherman... Brilliant! :scholar:

My point Lanky, was most people that fish in tropical waters are sport fisherman. It's not an opinion, that's just what the majority of them do
Brilliant! :scholar:

Shark is everywhere too, and delicious as hell. Anyone who hasn't tried it should.

90% of all shark species taste like piss because they eliminate waste through their skin. You already knew that. :nana:

No it's not. Sport fishing is done for the sport/competition of it, that's why it's called sport fishing. The people who are sport fishing are usually catching and releasing, or they are trying to get a citation for their catch. Recreational fishermen eat their catch, sport fishermen do not. The only exception to this that I know of is guys who fish for Mahi-Mahi. Some mount, some eat it or give it away. You don't fish much do you?

Yeah and I thump my chest.... :clap2:

Swordfish is predominantly a cold water fish though.

:insane:

Cobia is like that. Delicious fresh, inedible after freezing.

:insane:

No fisherman that knows what they're doing ever goes fishing for several types of fish. You have to use different rigs and different bait depending on what you're going after, so it just isn't realistic.

Being that that's the reality of multi species fishing, who in their right mind would go out on a boat with dozens of baits and rigs? People don't do that, I promise I'm not just talking out of my ass. People who don't fish consistently only think they know what they're doing.

Again...its me thumping my chest. :whoknows:

These essentially end up being a one species rig, because even though you can catch any reef fish with it, you aren't going to have multiple different types of reef fish all together in one spot fighting for your affection.

One reef fish per reef.. so let it be done! :help:

WHERE DID YOU CATCH THAT ORANGE ROUGHY?
Northeast of Nova Scotia. I don't buy anything I can catch myself. I know it's a foreign concept to some people that there are people who like to grow, catch, hunt their own food, but we do exist.

My last post on fishing unless someone wants to discuss things that actually happened.

I see reading isn't your strong point huh? Most and every are vastly different words.

90% of all shark species taste like piss because they eliminate waste through their skin. You already knew that. :nana:
Anyone who has ever been past first grade knows how they piss, it's not rocket science. It doesn't make them taste like piss though. Only if you're a dumbass and don't bleed and steak them as soon as you catch them. But I'm sure you already knew that too, you being the almighty and everything.

One reef fish per reef.. so let it be done! :help:
Here you go talking out of your ass again. I never said or implied that. Here's the kindergarten version.......

Some fish are predators, some are prey. Some fish are big, some little. When multiple species occupy an area, they don't feed together. Fish are racist in their feeding habits. Point being, you will never, no matter what your "expert" opinion is, drop a line in the same spot along a reef and catch two different types of fish. Unless maybe you wait a few hours.

My last post on fishing unless someone wants to discuss things that actually happened.
Wanna bet? Your ego is obviously worse than mine, so you won't be able to help yourself.

Oh, and you still didn't refute anything I said. You posted smilies and gave your opinion again. It doesn't change what I've done and what I know, and it still doesn't make me the liar you accuse me of being. Also, the two most bountiful places in the world for swordfish are the north atlantic and the south atlantic. Both very cold. So although they can live anywhere, they are, exactly as I said, PREDOMINANTLY a cold water fish.

Edit: OMFG WHAT'S THIS? Nothing big. Just an explanation of the reefs around Nova Scotia that an expert world traveling fisherman like yourself doesn't seem to even know exists.

If you're really interested, you can probably find some old maps with them marked, since they used to sink ships back in the day.

Thanks tshile, gonna give em hell tomorrow. Oh and i agree about just looking around and enjoying the scenery to a "shanty town".

If you've never been up here you guys have no idea just how ridiculously beautiful this state is. Difficult to describe and def recommend visiting here on a bucket list honestly.

You and your uncle are more ballsy than i am wrt driving on the ice. Heard too many stories of wreckers fishing the vehicle out, lol.

Extreme an Dead Money, you're both embarrassing yourselves with this interwebz argument.

Knock it off and stop hijacking SS's thread :)

I also like photography. Elephant has hooked me up with some great advice and I'm about to buy a nice setup that he recommended! I'm Very Excited.

I wish I had a camera besides my blackberry back in 2009 when I took this.

 That's badass. And because I remember all of your stories from the ES days and all the pictures of your adventures, I wouldn't doubt it. You're like the female version of the most interesting man in the world. If you punched me in the face, I'd have to resist the strong urge to thank you.
