Maybe it's the name. Well, of course it's the name, but I'm intrigued by this pick. Like the size and the growth curve... Wish he was faster though.

I feel you on the speed front. But then, speed isn’t the be all and end all. Brown has speed but hasn’t been effective as a WR yet. Maybe McCaffrey has that intangible that makes him work. I’m intrigued to find out.

4.46 in the forty is not slow by any stretch (that puts him in the 66th percentile for WRs). Setting aside straight line speed, he's very quick. His shuttle time put him in the 92nd percentile, his 3 cone time at the 89th percentile. Kid can cut and make moves and he is just getting started at the position. Who knows what his ceiling is?

Slot receiver is not really about top line speed. It's about quickness and movement, the ability to cut one way or another on a dime and be precise.

At 4.46 as indicated he's faster than the slot guys like Crowder and Milne we have tried out there the past couple of years.

Easy Ed has some pretty good football playing kids, it appears.

Not quite the Manning legacy, because the Mannings are QBs, but if Luke is a contributor at least, it aint bad....

I like the pick because I think he immediately can compete to be the slot WR. Terry and Jahan are set on the outside. The 3rd WR was completely open. Sorry, Crowder, Milne, Brown, etc. etc. etc. are not that great. (Though I still LOVE the fact Milne is dating Zach Wilson's ex and the Jet's personal trainer through a twitter tantrum about it. It might be the only good thing Milne has done. Maybe not a reason to keep him around, but maybe it is????)

Regardless, McCaffery has the ability to impact the team right away. And I like that.

this begs the question of WHY a pregnant Lisa McCaffrey ran a 40 yard dash?

If she was early in pregnancy, there was probably no impact. I don’t think it was done in the 3rd trimester. Also, not to be that guy, but I’m going to be that guy. I don’t think there has been a woman who has run a 40 in 4.5. I know the 40 is in NFL thing and not a real track event. I looked around and saw where the the current US Women’s soccer team, the fastest players are said to be around 4.7. My point is, there is already a little bit of an exaggeration in this story, so maybe even the pregnancy part is exaggerated.

I don’t think it takes away from the story about how both his parents are supremely athletic and competitive. And on Mother’s Day, it’s good to have a story about his mom when most people would point to his NFL playing dad and not realize his mom is also an amazing athlete.

Quite the gene pool-

Lisa followed in her dad's footsteps and set track records. Her father, Dr. Dave Sime, was considered the fastest man in the world in the mid-1950s, according to The Washington Post. The Olympian track sprinter also made a name for himself in basketball and football. He won a silver medal in the 100-meter dash at the 1960 Olympic Games and held several sprint records during the late 1950s.

That's a pretty dumb tweet by the team's Twitter handler. I'm pretty sure Ed McCaffrey is one hell of an athlete. Mom by all accounts is too, but come on... As Kel alluded too, seems to be some hyperbole in the whole thing. Not like she is Jackie Joyner-Kersee who has shattered world athletic records.

You two sound like people who tell others that Santa isn't real ;)

There are no fairies or leprechauns either.

They are too! :p

Maybe Lisa should be invited to camp.

Hey, if we are inviting Braeden Daniels, why not everyone else? :p
