the defense was 10 times worse than the offense. the offense is pretty well weaponized right now. I can see picking up an 0-linemen or two in the 3rd and 4th rounds. I personally would go CB in the 2nd...as noted...or dl. we can get a decent RT in the 3rd rnd. we don't need a hall of famer who is going to unbalance the money going to offense too heavily. we need a capable guy who can pass pro for abt 4 secs!

while I agree, the defense was also on the field 10x more than the offense and getting used a lot more. That counts for a lot as well.

so...you're right on the qualification. it's a valid point.

I just have this intuition they know they have more work to do on defense. while I disagreed...the Gruden comment earlier on that the o-line wasn't as bad as some thought suggests to me they are still going to work defense.

we'll see. either way....it'll end up being a net plus.

I learned something new the other day. Everyone can file it away in their completely useless trivia memory. And it may correlate to RG3 and Jackson. (Great Segway)

In professional soccer globally, the best player on a team will almost always wear the number 10.

And unlike in our US football, soccer franchises never retire the numbers of their best players. Including Pele, who you guessed it, wore the number 10.

Close although perhaps over simplified. Typically the #10 is worn by the playmaker on the team, not necessarily the "best" player. And if you want bring tradition into it, then a #10 is something of a withdrawn striker who is said to play "under" the center forward and whose job it is to get the forward the ball in scoring position.

There is a whole numbering system that soccer used to use, with each position in a formation having it's own number, and may vary by formation. Goal Keeper's were always #1, Center Backs were usually 2 and 3, Full Backs were 4 and 5, and so on. The #10 was soccer's equivalent to the Point Guard in basketball, fully capable of scoring himself but also charged with setting up his teammates to score and running the play.

And often when listening to soccer commentary you will hear the announcers talk about a guy playing the #9 spot, or the #10 spot or being the team's #6. These are all references to the old traditional jersey numbering scheme.

The system has changed a lot over the years and you can get an idea of those changes, and the history involved here.

They had Marcellus Wiley on debunking the whole "gang" thing. Great interview. Also, since Wiley has relationships with both parties, he's a good reference for what may have really gone down since neither side is talking.

Wiley's take was that it's more of an old guard vs. new guard situation. That Kelly needs the vets to buy into the system, dietary changes, lifestyle & workout changes, etc. And that Jax wasn't buying in, but still performing. So DeSean had to go in order to keep Kelly's system alive.

Now my logical addition to that the Iggles would try to survive the cut as economcially as possible, and perhaps floating some "issues" could get them out of honoring the contract, or at least get a discount from the League, citing "detremental" or whatever. Doesnt' seem like that is going to float.
