I wonder if this guy has a chance to be a starter this year? Plenty of third round o linemen do contribute early, particularly at guard. Is he someone we're grooming for the future or can he plug and play? Do we see him as a tackle or as a guard? Coleman will be an interesting one to watch during the rookie camps just to see where they line him up.

Still think that we will be looking outside the draft at this point for even more o line help. Would be great if he takes a job in camp.

I was cooler on this pick last night. In my original 'Crystal Ball Pool' draft I had us taking Coleman later in the draft. In the 3rd round felt like a reach last night, but you have to keep in mind the guy is a physical freak. He is maybe the fastest, most explosive OL of his size in this draft. He's played both OG and OT but seems a natural tackle. He is coming from the Air Raid offense and is a very good run blocker. He was available where we got him because he had a slightly down 2023 where he battled through some injury issues. I think they believe he can be an effective LT. If they are right, we got a steal. He was, as several of the Commanders draft picks were, a team captain. I like it more this morning.

I like this pick. I agree with Burgold, the camp battles leading up to the season are going to interesting to watch to see what exactly we have.

I like this pick. My only worry is our Oline coach.

If we had Callahan or Matsko still here, I'd be pumped but Johnson's spotty record has me concerned.

I hear you DP. Of all of the coaching hires, I agree that one was the one that seemed to raise the most eyebrows. You have to think that Kingsbury and Quinn have a viewpoint on Johnson that includes information we don't have? On it's surface, it's a Joe Barry level 'WTF?!' hire.

Adam Peters is a confident guy. I loved his response as reported in the Post when asked about Coleman coming in and playing guard for us:

"I see Brandon Coleman coming in and competing for us at left tackle. We have Cornelius Lucas and Trent Scott over there but Brandon was drafted with an eye towards that spot on the outside." :cheer2:

Being someone who absolutely loved Steve Avila a year ago, this is music to my ears.

I think he has a chance to be a starter week 1. That's more because I don't have a tremendous amount of belief in Lucas, Scott and Daniels (the tackle Ron selected last year.)

One thing I didn't know and have heard over the last few days, he played almost the entire season with a high ankle sprain. And since he played on it, it never healed.

Hopefully it's healed now. If so, he is going to go in there and compete. It's not like he's competing for playing time with Trent Williams.

He could beat out Lucas immeidately. Lucas also isn't a 17 game starter. So somebody is going to play eventually, and it might be him.

I do think they will sign another veteran before training camp. But there aren't a lot of good options out there....

Yeah, I wouldn't figure that Braeden Daniels, Ron's pick from last year, factors in the competition at tackle.

Adam Peters didn't mention him when discussing left tackle, only Lucas and Trent Scott in addition to Coleman.

IMO, Ron put Daniels on injured reserve to avoid having to cut a #4 draft pick without him making the final roster.

That was Ron's style. Cover up the poor decisions and let them cool and then when no one is looking waive a guy over Labor Day or Thanksgiving, etc. :rotflmao:

Hm, Ron doesn't seem like a guy who makes that many bad decisions though:

I saw this video a while back and it stuck in the back of my mind. When reading your post it popped forward because it just sounded like you were describing the figure who would make that video.
