Washington DC to host NFL draft in 2027

Don't think it was a coincidence that Goodell was here on Monday for the stadium announcement.

Hopefully we've got a lot of picks that year. Next year not so much, but the year after? Full complement at least. Would love to have a bunch of Day 2 picks and go out there for that.

they couldn’t do this while Snyder owned the team.

Now? It’s a total no brainer. The mall will be an amazing backdrop for the draft.

That's kind of exciting. I'm not sure if I'd want to attend though. Be fun to celebrate with a lot of 'skins fans, but it feels like a whole lot of waiting for 3 minutes of excitement. There's a part of me very worried about the security situation, too. That's a whole lot of people to monitor and prevent making mischief in the capital. With all the slashes to Homeland, the risk increases.

Makes sense for the nfl. Drive over half a million people into the city you want to approve a new gem for the league. Those people spend a few days here spending their money in the local economy. Hotels, dining, etc. Economic impact for Detroit a few years ago was over $200M.

Looking forward to a councilmember opposed to a stadium will find a way to complain.

I was thinking about driving up to Pittsburgh next year. I’ll just wait for it to come here instead!!

Thom Loverro thumping his chest over something most expected. You never see Keim, Svrluga, Chelsea James, Nikki Jabvala act like that…

At some point, years back, I feel like Loverro wasn't this bad. Either I didn't know better or he has grown really obnoxious in the last 3-5 years or so. Agree with you completely on this.

Avoid a trip to Pittsburgh (went to college there) AND experience NFL draft in DC!! Score!! :)

No offense to those who may like Pittsburgh, but at least for me, the city's grayness during the school season was tough. Amazing summers there, apparently - but the taste we got of that was limited if you always head home at that time. So, so gray otherwise. Sooo gray.

What a complete 180 the NFL has made on this franchise. They are trying to encourage the re-growth from the embers left by the previous owner, since this is obviously a community that can end up padding their bottom lines collectively.

If Bruce Allen were dead, he'd be rolling in his grave because he didn't get the honor of making this happen. So I guess he's rolling in his mud instead.

This individual event will likely make back a large portion of the money the city is investing in the stadium....

Rap Sheet report:

Hosted in partnership with the Washington Commanders and the local organizing committee, Events DC, the 2027 NFL Draft will take place across the District's most iconic landmarks, including the National Mall and Pennsylvania Avenue, placing the capital at the center of America's most celebrated sport.

H̶a̶r̶v̶e̶s̶t̶ Draft Fest 2027!

Honestly, this is a brilliant move with the stadium situation not completely settled. The money the draft will bring into the City will be staggering.

The tidal wave of a new RFK has become impossible to stop in my opinion. They have gone all in on D.C.

I feel almost obligated to go, but DC can be a mess when full. Almost have to rent a room downtown and stay there, because riding the metro would be a mess. Will have to think up a plan. Thankfully we have some time.
