This is fantastic. He deserves it.
A key part in bringing pride to a franchise that hadn't won a Championship in over 40 years.

The ultimate blend of speed, balance, and power, along with great vision. I wasn't lucky enough to see him play in person, but I was fortunate enough to watch him play live on TV in real time throughout his career, and as he said have those memories for the rest of my life.

I remember watching those games as a kid and it was like one player appeared in 3 - D, and that was number 44.

Easily one of my top three favorite Redskins.

I’ll always appreciate that Riggo was on the earlier side in hating Snyder. I call it the “Dark Heart” era. So much so actually, that many homers turned on him in defense of Snyder during the early/middle years of that era when they still wanted to believe he would improve. History would prove Riggo ridiculously right.

Better late than never I guess. Of course, Lord Farquaad wasn't going to do it since Riggins hated his incompetence and told him to his face back in the 20 teens. Congrats Riggo.

This is ... GREAT NEWS.

One of the greatest moments of my life was SB 17 when he scored that TD after stiff arming Don McNeil. Honestly, I figured he get a 1st. Be he went all the way. Pure bliss.

Besides being a legendary HOFer, Riggo is a charming and very, very funny guy. Long ago I realized he has a similar sense of humor to Bob Dylan. Both of them excel at making quirky statements and then looking right into the camera, as if to wink at us and say, "you know what I really mean."

Congrats #44! You deserve it.

As a kid in the early 80s, John Riggins seemed more like Superman wearing Burgundy and Gold.
Some of my fondest childhood memories in the Fall was watching this Super hero play football and one of those peak memories was watching #44 disappear into a pile and my Dad starts with "Now why in the world would you run right into that pile?!!" And before he could get another word out,Riggo popped out on the other side dragging a would be tackler for another 4-6 yards. Then me and my Dad looked at one another and almost simultaneously said to one another: "How'd he do that?"
John Riggins will always be a Redskins legend. And the sun never sets on those.

Might be the best quote in the history of this team.

"You like that?" comes to mind as another great quote. There's that long quote from JKC about his state of euphoria, which is gold.

Jay Gruden's dumbass "code red for us for sure" quote I guess is a thing, and ironically it was the code red game which inspired the "you like that" quote.

But I think "I'm bored, I'm broke, and I'm back" is the single best quote from any player or coach I can remember. Unless anybody can think of one I'm forgetting....

That's a classic, for sure.

Tampa Bays first coach, John McKay who was quite the character, had a few good ones.

When asked by a reporter how much of a part emotion played in football, McKay replied:
