Let me preface it by saying I have despised this day since birth and think you should be relieved of duties for it upon marriage, but the ladies love it. No man has the good fortune of marrying a woman who loathes the day as well, so we get stuck buying corny gifts for a corny fake Hallmark holiday forever.

Sooooo......any gift ideas? I've been with my wife for 13 Valentine's Days, so I'm fresh out of ideas. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Massages are out, she has back problems and won't go for it. She just had her nails done......I want something original, not the box of chocolate and flowers.

I wouldn't suggest a fishing charter. :D
I see your lips moving, but all I hear is blah blah blah, I'm such a dirty tramp

I looked into things like the whole spa treatment, then I saw the prices. People actually pay hundreds of dollars to go to the spa? WTF? I can't take her out to dinner either, because I cook so good that on the rare occasions we do go out to eat, she spends the entire meal criticizing the chef

Edible arrangements is a complete waste of money ($55 for a dozen chocolate covered strawberries), there are no movies playing that she wants to see, she's not a fan of roses at all. It makes things difficult. And chocolate is cliche. I want to do something unexpected.

This thread wins so far.

I feel obligated to suggest a Lifetouch family portrait. Your wife would love a family portrait, but hasn't wanted to ask. :D

That's a great idea, honestly. Oddly enough, we already have one scheduled for Monday. I think it's too late to slip in the Happy Valentine's Day on this one :D

Or you could call a real photogr...er...umm...

Valentines Day is the simplest day to buy your wife or significant other something... At least it is for me.

Nothing has changed since our 1st V-Day together. I get her the same thing every year!

A single rose and a card. Nothing more!

Yeah, it is a good idea, but do my churches listen to me? Noooooo....

Ahem.

Also, a nice bottle of dessert wine with some nice dark chocolate is what I'm doing.

Oh Brian. I don't actually photograph people, I have professionals for that. Trust me, they're good.

I dislike this halmark faux holiday too. That said, I keep it simple.

Just make the day, and I mean the ENTIRE day all about her. Dont let her lift a finger in household chores, and especially doing anything that she dislikes.

Then give her the best gift of all, and my personal favorite (wait for it.....)

SEX, SEX and more SEX!

This is why Valentine's Day is so difficult for me. I'll admit that because I am unable to sit still and do nothing, and I am more thorough with household duties than any normal human should be (OCD) I'm already the house bitch

So me doing all the cooking, cleaning, other chores is already the daily norm. Every time my wife's friends find out all the stuff I do they go on and on about how romantic it is that I do all the cooking and cleaning. My wife? Unimpressed. I've done it so long it's expected now. Things that normal women swoon over have no effect on my wife at all, making the effort on Valentine's Day that much more difficult. The difference is, I have money to do something special this year that I normally don't have at my disposal.

I LOL'd Lanky.

And Ex, in that same... er, vein, maybe talk to the spam bots who post links to free viagra every so often. I bet they have some ideas for ya.
