Thom Lovero and Kevin Sheehan Discuss The Narrative From Ashburn

Yesterday Thom and Kevin did a segment on Bowen's comments in Chris Russel's blog. They discussed the general 'woofing' from the team over the offseason (and lump in the general woofing over the last 20+ years), a team that has ranked in the bottom 5 of the league in aggregate wins/losses over that time; a team that would be picking #2 in the draft this year if they hadn't traded the pick away.

"... They shouldn't woof about anything. They were 3 and 13 dreadful last year. And here's the problem Tommy - how much is too much talking? When do you get to the point where it's like - it's hard enough for me to invest time into this 3 and 13 mess of a franchise with all that happened at the end of last year. ... At what point do you say enough is enough? ... It's like you're bad and you're also not very smart or classy...
...
Here's what you want. You want somebody's number 1 attribute to be something other than their mouth. And this franchise has too many players' whose number one attribute is their mouth." - Kevin Sheehan

BTW - Sheehan is as die hard of a fan as it gets, this isn't someone that just likes to hate on the organization.

The discussion starts at the 11 minute mark. Some interesting perspectives from both the hosts and the people that called in.

At what point?

2009. From my perspective Sheehan is just catching up.

Just win.

Just for clarification, it's Sheehan that said they shouldn't be talking shit. It's in response to Bowen making the claim that the defensive line will be the most dominate in the league next year.

Sheehan may be fan, but he's also a guy trying to keep himself on the radio first, and foremost. Talk radio, no matter the genre, lives off audience participation. Caller's, Twidiots, etc...

Pissed off people participate more than happy people. That's why, void of any controversy, the media, which includes Sheehan, will do their level best to make one.
He is no different than Lovero in that aspect, who has no connection to our team, or fanbase.

Duly noted.

Nah. Sheehan's a pretty rah rah guy normally. It's not really a rile-ya-up kinda show.

He also happens to be pretty smart when it comes to football, basketball, and sports gambling.

You could hear the pain in his voice the day after the close of the 2013 season when he opened his show. He's as emotionally invested and attached to the team as anyone here is.

Unlike what many want you to believe, not every sports reporter/host/commentator is created equally nor do they all only strive to get ratings by stirring the pot with nonsense.

Many of these reporters are about to be really pissed off.

This is no longer Honey Boo Boo at Redskins Park.

No insane grandpas, no pansies, no losers leaking stories to these girly men broadcast announcers who then race to twitter to try and be the first.

Why is this player in the doghouse? RG2 doesn't like the offense. So and so isn't happy. These announcers and writers aren't going to have any material.

It's going to be like watching a group of alcoholics in rehab.

The bar is closed.

I do hope that is the way it goes. And I'm pretty sure Gruden will run a tight ship. But they will always find material. The Patriots are the most close-mouthed organization out there, and they have material for them too.

I do think the amount will drop dramatically though, and it will be nice after last season.

But even if they don't have any material at all to work with, they will make it up.
That's what they do. They don't need material.
If RG3 walks to the sideline during a game, and appears to yell at Gruden, of course that's in front of the world to see, and suddenly a story will appear that there's a huge riff between QB and coach. No "leak" is needed for that.

That's why they teamed him with Lovero. Next to the fat man, Sheehan sounds giddy with fandom.

Believe that if you want. IMO it's 9-1 in favor of the ratings whores. Which, unfortunately, they NEED to do in today's media world. They ALL do it. Some aren't as nonstop about it as others, but they all do it.

Not saying that's not true, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Just win.

As long as you don't add "baby" to the end of that Henry. ;)
