I refuse to believe they did this to now just argue about what they are going to do with the land. I expect things will move very quickly and maybe we find out something for sure during the off-season regarding the stadium site.

I agree. I expect it to move quickly. The Mayor was on the junkies and they asked about timing if the bill passes, and she said something like, "I always want everything done yesterday."
I mean, there could always be an unexpected problem at the council level, but what I've heard about this, from the Mayor and from multiple other people, is that the city might not be expected to put up cash for the actual stadium. DC's contribution might be building up infrastructure, improving the metro etc. That stuff is expensive, but can easily be pitched to the city as spending on something that could benefit the entire stadium, not just putting money into building a stadium for a sports team.
I just don't see how anything Maryland has is going to match the RFK site and what it could bring the team, and in the long run, that will all generate profits that will help any investment pay for itself.

Like I said earlier in the thread, I sincerely hope they figure all this out in a way where everybody can win here.

It looks like as far as Congress, aside from the initial resistance from the Montana Senator and then the two from Maryland,, transferring control of the land to D.C. ( the Federal government will still own it ) was never really an issue for any of them.

Yeah, things are taking shape quite well. The team has agreed to develop that land where the stadium is now, so I'd imagine that has helped soothe some concerns in MD.

I was thinking the same thing.
rales and harris have a lot of influence in D.C and a lot of connections and powerful friends.
It probably took a dump truck load of personal favors and I.o.u's to get the bill pushed over the finish line in the 11th hour.
Doubt they put in all that work and called in all their markers so that they could have a bargaining chip with Virginia and Maryland.
although I'm sure they will use all 3 as leverage against each other to get the best deal I'd be pretty surprised if it didn't end up being rfk.

I would be extremely surprised, and as equally disappointed, if they're anywhere other than the RFK site.

Maryland is a joke. They sold out to favor the Ravens but want to hold the Commanders hostage to a horrible site in the middle of nowhere.

I would be surprised if it isn’t RFK and also surprised if this new business district in Landover doesn’t include an HQ for the Commanders. Makes all the sense in the world.

No they just don’t want Northwest turning into what the RFK site is currently. Can’t blame them especially after what happened with the Capital Centre location….its like a demilitarized zone.
That would make sense and I would believe it were it not for the condition that they build something of equal economic impact on the site and the demand of the fighter squadron.
