If you look at top NFL QBs over time, I’m not sure ‘congenialty’ is the most common trait linking them all. Extreme confidence, individualism, and aggressive personality - these things seem to be a bigger deal. In other words, let’s assume that the group activities significantly ‘annoyed’ Daniel’s (and that’s a big assumption)… him not caring for it and saying so might be a more positive indicator than a negative. It’s easy to find QBs who always say the right thing and will do exactly what they think a new employer wants. I see that as having little bearing on success. Sometimes you need a little dawg in the guy at that position. I think Daniels has some arrogance and ‘**** you I do what I think is best’ in him. I also think it’s what has gotten him to this point in his career arc.
We need an alpha at QB, not a diplomat.
As far as the ‘exercise’ possibly creating long-term bad feelings, that sounds like hyperbole to me. It’s one thing for a Kirk Cousins to hold a grudge because Washington drafted and started RG3 over him. But harboring a grudge because a team invited other players to your team visit - that is hardly comparable.
