The NBA Season Is Saved

So where does Dwight end up next season? And does anyone really care?

I thought a reunion in Atlanta with SVG would have been great for him career-wise, but Stan shot that down.

Now I believe he ends up in Houston. Maybe Hakeem can save him.

Cheap? He's getting the max anywhere he goes, isn't he?

The Lakers have to offer him the max. Or he's gone.

As a Laker fan, do you want him to stay? Maybe get rid of the HC?

Maybe Howard does stay in LA, but it looks like he wants to move on.

Here in Memphis, the thinking is that they need another scorer and another big man under the basket - primarily for defense. If they get those two players, that will be a scary team. Not sure if they would want Howard though.

No chance he signs anywhere on the cheap - Dwight's going to get big money wherever he goes. I think Houston is a very likely landing place - there has been some chatter here.

Houston is trying to trade Robinson. Poor guy must be getting a complex about it. He has a real chance to do well in this league - I'd take him over Howard.

Until Dwight gets his head screwed on straight(if that's even possible), no one's winning with him.

I agree 100%.

He needs the right coach and the right offense (1 in, 4 out) seems to suit him well.

He loves Hakeem, so my money in on Houston right now.

i'm not an NBA guy, but they do cover it enough on the shows i listen to that i'm relatively up to speed on howard.

so for those that are:
a- would you want him on your team?
b- do you think any of the top 4-6 teams would want him, or would they weigh the attitude/risk too much?

i default to being a wizards fan since they're the home team. i wouldn't want him on their team, they've done too much knucklehead cleaning out to bring someone like that in regardless of talent.

I wouldn't want him because the Wizards are like the early 2000s Redskins; a very dysfunctional franchise at the moment. He needs a better support structure & surroundings; I think Houston is a great fit. They've already got a superstar and the face of the franchise in The Beard, so Howard can come in and be a complimentary player. And as others have pointed out, Hakeem is here, who will be a stabilizing influence.

But didn't howard not like being a complementary player to kobe when the lakers took him?

My understanding was that they had to change the way they ran their offense to keep him from acting like a petulant child.

He seems like a catch 22 - he needs the support to keep his head straight but he doesn't want to play second fiddle to anyone. How can you have a team with that sort of support that doesn't have that #1 guy already in place?

James Harden is recruiting Dwight to the Rockets. This article seems to imply that Dwight has a 5-year, $128M max deal waiting for him in LA if he wants it...which probably means that's what he'll get wherever he goes (if its true).

Actually Howard can get $30M more guaranteed from the Lakers than any other team. The Lakers can offer a five-year contract worth a maximum of $117.9 million. Other teams can offer only a max of four years and $87.8 million. Texas, however, not having an income tax would help to soften that difference, at least for the Rockets or Mavs home games.

Diesel, what are your thoughts on all of the Celtics rumors?

And why aren't they aggressively going after Dwight? Get rid of KG, and bring Dwight in for Doc to build around.

Ainge has always claimed that he would not get stuck like Red did when the one and only Big Three got old and unmovable.

If he pulls off a deal that nets him draft picks and D.Jordan and Bledsoe, don't expect that to be the end of the wheeling and dealing. Ainge is looking for tradeable assets.

As far as Dwight goes, I think he's already proven to be too mentally unstable to build around.
