The Jayden Daniels Tracker

I wonder if the real reason Quinn decided to sit Daniels for the season was because he knew he was firing Kingsbury/letting Kingsbury walk and so felt there weren't lessons Jayden could learn on the field for the rest of 2025. Why expose the kid to more injury and give him more experience in a system that Quinn wanted to change up. Daniels might only be reinforcing bad habits or learning the wrong lessons.
 
Playing JD wouldn't have made any sense. Especially if, as burgold mentioned, Quinn knew he was going to can Kingsbury. By the time JD was even close to able to play, we were out of the playoffs. I know he wanted to play really badly, which makes sense because he's an extremely competitive person, but it makes so much more sense to just let him sit and fully heal and then start learning the new system for the next season.

Since Jayden is going to Dubai, I hope he gets a nice relaxing break. Sometimes a break is the most important thing you can get before you get back to work.

I wonder if Juju is going with him.... Though his mother might tear her other knee apart if she sat too close on the plane.
 
Finally just watched it. It's cool to see that he has a good relationship with Maye and a lot of the class. Seems like he was quickly ok with Kliff being gone when he realized Blough is was going to be the guy.

Its clear that it's true when Anthony Armstrong said about the guys on offense probably being excited because a lot of times they have a closer elationship with the coaches at the lower level of the totem pole.

He said those are the coaches who you talk to the most and try to get them to tell the higher coaches about changes you think may work.

That's why you hear Jayden talking about how he's already telling Blough about things that he likes and wants to do where he probably wasn't always comfortable doing that with Kliff
 
Good interview but I don’t much care for him calling his OC Blough unless that is what he goes by. 🤷🏻‍♂️

He is only 30 and basically been Jayden's friend for 2 years besides coaching. It will be an adjustment but hopefully the guys will get an understanding and show him the proper respect while also allowing him to be his own man and own coach.

This is his shot so I want him to run his offense as he sees fit because he is the one who will get canned if it goes bad but I am also OK if Jayden knows some things that he feels like he's comfortable with and effective at, as long as they work and are successful.

Couple thoughts. I didn't care for the 'Blough' and him talking like they are more 'buds' than Blough being his new OC but there are a couple of mitigating things. First of all, I think JD is a true professional and committed to his 'craft'. He's an OC's dream in terms of work ethic and motivation. He's always seemed to me to be the anti-RG3 in terms of being highly coachable. So Blough is likely not going to have to 'assert his authority' in order to get JD to listen to him. Secondly, I think there are situations where a much more collaborative and horizontal relationship (vs. more structured vertical one... ie... traditional coach/player) can work. Where their 'relationship' will come most into play is when things aren't going well. We will have to see how it goes if/when that happens.

One passing comment Jayden made when asked about what he expects from the new offense... He mentioned play action. I suspect that is going to be the single biggest difference we see with Blough - doing lots of play action from a more rushing dominant scheme. Jayden is supposedly very, very good in play action, we just haven't gotten to see him do it a lot. So that could be a major positive.

If these coordinator hires don't go well, Blough will be just one of the ones getting canned.
 
I don't care what anyone says. Postseason play matters and none of the 2nd year QBs have performed anywhere close to what Jayden did in the playoffs last year and that was all on the road. Een when significantly our tgunned by Philly and their great defense, he still played extremely well.

Philly got extreme pressure with the front 4 and could drop everyone else into coverage, yet Jayden was still throwing darts and moving the ball when Maholmes looked like a deer in headlights against that same defense in the SB and Maye looked like crap tonight with the front 4 getting pressure.

Things may change if Jayden slides again next year but I still have him as the highest rated based on his playoff performance and the ability to lift his team more than the others.
