The Jayden Daniels Tracker

This is one of my biggest questions as well. We do have a rookie starting on the right side and although Tunsil is a very good LT, he is on a new team and in a new scheme. I really think that it’s our lack of weapons that had the QB holding onto the ball too long and it’s tough for any line to protect for extended periods. Likewise when you can’t effectively pass then that results in teams stacking the box. Our inability to put together an effective passing attack has made us one dimensional and that puts extreme pressure on an OL.

Shut him down for the rest of the season. It's his third injury and there's essentially nothing to be gained by playing him.

We all saw the pressure he was under. Does anyone have an feedback on who the worst offenders were on the OL? That is without a doubt the biggest disappointment of the 2025 season. We all thought line would be good, even a strength. Instead they are as bad or worse than last year's line.

The O line save Conerly and Allegretti-Wylie when they played has been good. Teams though are playing man and teeing off on Jayden, with blitzes. Last year he killed teams on the blitz. I guess some here might say he didn't do it this year because he "regressed" but IMO the obvious reason why he isn't that hot against the blitz is his WRs don't win. When you blitz you can make teams pay for their aggression. But the same point doesn't seem to be in play when Chris Moore, Jaiyn Lane and T. Burks aren't beating man coverage.

Conerly by a mile. Back when he played Allegretti was awful.

Only IMO if its just the last game of the season or maybe just last 2 or he's fake healthy versus really healthy.

But if he's healthy and lets say there is 5-6 weeks to go, it would be very weird to shut him down. They are discussing this now on 106.7 where they likewise think it woud be weird to shut him down.

Your franchise QB isn't put on the shelf in a lost season just because you are afraid of injury. I can't think of a precedent to that. Jayden would be pissed and I dont blame him I'd be pissed, too. Assuming Terry and or Noah are back, they can finish the season where the whole vibe doesn't feel depressing and pathetic.

Let Jayden finish the season on a high and find a rhythmn. As Kliff likes to see Jayden hasn't had time to develop chemistry with his supporting cast and he needs it. I'd rather not have Jayden and the team finish the season on some low demoralizing ending.

lol, I do think they could use a dose of humility leading into this season. But this has sunk much worse than that.

I was actually going to post a couple of days ago that I may be the only one but I would play Jayden late in the year if he is cleared because I think that he still needs the reps. This news is even better than that. He should play imo.

He has still had some moments like the Chargers game where he was totally on point and not immediately running. Even the bears game the following week he was good for the most part. He still has elite capabilities in there. Get him healthy with Terry and Deebo after the bye and finish strong, going into next season on a high note.

Now, if Marcus can steal the game this weekend then we still have an outside shot at the playoffs. We should beat Miami no matter what and all hands on deck after the bye with Jayden, McLaurin, and brown back. It at least keeps me interested in the season, which I was pretty much done with.

Agree.

Don't get me wrong I get the instinct to just seit Daniels to ensure he doesn't get hurt in a lost season. Also if its just a game or two, I'd shelve him in that context, too. But if its 4-5 games....

Lost seasons happen. You don't put your franchise QB on the shelf because the season isn't going well. Daniels is a competitor. He wants to work on his game. I doubt he wants his season to end on a low.

If Daniels is back along with Terry and Noah, they can win some games in the home stretch. I am usually in a lost season rooting for losses and a higher draft pick. But not this time, everything being equal, I don't want the season to end with a total depressing vibe.

What would be even more depressing is if he gets hurt again after coming back from this injury. Very, very lucky this was his left arm. Kliff will keep calling all kinds of designed run plays despite the repetition of injuries #5 has already suffered, and I'm not convinced the line can hold. I'm not comfortable with playing him immediately after he's cleared, especially given who we're playing in those last games of the season.

To me it depends soley on how many games we are talking about. if its 1-2 games, screw it. I wouldn't play him. But if its 4-5? I would. No brainer IMO. Can you think of another example of a franchise QB just being shelved for the last 4 or 5 games because the team was afraid they might get injured? Again, assuming the QB is healthy. I agree with talk radio on this it would be super weird for a healthy QB to be shelved out of fear that he'd hurt himself again. lol, its sort of like the team taking a shot at Jayden. We are so afraid that you are fragile and can't hold up in an NFL season that we are punting on the rest of the season

Kliff really wasn't calling many designed runs. It's just guys aren't open so Jayden subsequently scrambles. But am guessing when he's back, Terry will be back and probably Noah, too. I think the O line is fine.

Jayden wasn't injured much in college. He's gotten banged up this season but nothing serious. I don't think he's dumb. I don't think Quinn is dumb either. Smart people learn from mistakes. If he's getting wacked in a game that's lost and the defense is teeing off on him, I am sure he will be taken out. I think Jayden will be more careful, too.

IMO they can't treat him like he's fragile and hold him to different standards on that count compared to other teams with their QBs. For starters I think it would build resentment with Jayden and the team. I know I'd resent Quinn if I were in his shoes if I was benched -- it would feel more like a punishment than them protecting him.

On top of that, Jayden has some pride. Heck we got some of our own fans thinking Jayden was a one year wonder, an RG3 level fragile player, a mistake. Maye >, on and on. And that the success the team had last year was a fluke. You got a lot of negativity as an overhang of this season. And the off season is so long. If he's healthy and has some weapons back, go out on a high, not a depressing low.

Yeah, I gotcha SIP. I just worry about Kliff calling designed runs because he can't seem to help himself sometimes. Wasn't insinuating that's what's led to the injury. But I hope he curtails that impulse.

I just don't believe that we can coach or handle him scarily. If that's the case then we might as well draft another QB in the first round this year because I be damn if this turns into a Tua situation or even worse where you fear for him on every hit or tackle.

It wasn't like that last year even with his broken ribs. Now we fear that he won't finish every single game that he plays. That's not fair to DQ, Kliff, AP, or anyone. The best ability is availability and if we are terrified to play a guy even when he is cleared by doctors then he doesn't need to be our QB anyways. We cannot continue to handle him with kids gloves. He needs the reps. I actually feel like his struggles sometimes are because he's always rusty from being in and out so much

I’m not with benching a healthy Jayden either. Maybe if it were his throwing arm or a knee, but a left elbow injury is not a long term risk. Once we are mathematically eliminated we can have the discussion, but I’m not benching him any sooner than is normal.

The man had his elbow bent in a grotesque way and yet no breaks and no ligament damage?? That’s crazy. You can almost make a case he is injury resistant as much as that he’s injury prone. And one silver lining here is that he now has time off to 100% heal the knee/hammy.

That's the point though... there is no way that by the time Jayden is healthy enough to play, that we are still in the playoff hunt. They literally would have to win every game between now and then. They probably will throw him back out there anyway. That seems to be our coaching staff's mindset for whatever reason. But it's a pointless exercise. Doing anything but bubble-wrapping Daniels from here on out in 2025 just strikes me as flat out stupid.

I hear ya man, but I need him for the BGO fantasy league! 😂

Seriously though, you’re probably right and I’ll be ok with it assuming we are out of it. We should be tanking for a better draft pick anyway. But I can’t stand the idea of giving easy wins to the eagles and cowboys down the stretch, while a healthy Jayden stands on the sideline. And I don’t mind the idea of giving him a couple games to try to get his confidence back. There’s always going to be risk, but I certainly wouldn’t call the idea stupid.

This is how I feel as well. Jayden needs the reps, he's still a young QB. Nothing can be gained by sitting him other than draft position. As bad as we are I don't believe tanking is the right formula, unlike 2 years ago when we had to find a QB. No play him and as you said hopefully wash away some of the bad feelings of a lost season.

But are you sure about that. A lot of my opinion is based off of one strange fact. They didn't put him on IR. There is literally no reason in the world not to put him on IR unless you think that he may actually be ready to play soon after the bye and we should be able to beat Miami anyways.

It's almost like they feel that he has an outside shot of playing against Denver which would in itself, make my season to see him go out with at first thought was a career changing injury on snf in a blowout only to see him come back on snf after only missing 2 games and beating a top team in his rookie QB counterpart while playing well. That would almost be enough to make me feel great about this season.

Also, it sucks that we don't have 5 and it takes the luster off of the season but Marcus may truly be the best backup in the league and this system may be even more built for him than even Jayden. It's not crazy to think that he can keep us in it for a second

Great point. You have to be a super freak for that to be possible. He missed no games with broken ribs. He missed only 2 games with a sprained knee that some said would keep him out 6 weeks and he was actually upset because he felt like he didn't have to miss any. He pulled his hammy, immediately grabbed it, and limped off the field. Nothing heals slower and is more sensitive than a hammy. He came back a week later. You could argue in some ways that he's extremely crazy resilient

A lot of us pay a shitload for season tickets to go out there and support this team. We deserve to see the main attraction on the field if he is healthy. I’m under no illusions that we are a Super Bowl contender this year or next so I just want to see the kid play. He’s the best QB we’ve had by far in my lifetime as a fan, and he hasn’t even nearly reached his full potential. Let him get the experience he needs to get bettter. You may find he comes out of it just fine and with a better sense of how to protect himself on the field, which could be key to keeping him healthy in future years. Again I won’t be mad if they decide to sit him at some point but I’d prefer not.

I’m sorry, but he is the future of the franchise and having him out there in meaningless games with a line that can’t protect him and no one to throw the ball to AFTER he has suffered 3 injuries already this year? You getting value for your entertainment dollar is like #1000 on the list of concerns.

The coaches didn’t put him on IR because we aren’t mathematically eliminated and it’s their job to try and pull off a miracle run. When that is no longer possible, you protect your most important asset. To me, any other attitude is insane. Do you want him to tear his ACL in the last game of the season and be out for the bulk of 2026 too? Because bringing him back under these circumstances is begging for that
