The Jayden Daniels Tracker

Me three. Not feeling good about it at all. Not sure how a sprained knee can take anything less than a month to heal.
Wasn't it said to be a mild sprain. Which is 1-2 weeks. Moderate sprain is 3-6 weeks. If out more than 2 weeks we are in bad shape.

The secrecy of the MRI, the results of said MRI, in conjunction with not even pretending he could play this weekend.

I find zero ability to have an ounce of positivity about this season.

It's week 2 and we're 1-1. Doom and gloom is not warranted at this point. If he misses more than a week or two, then we have something to be concerned about.

You may want to revisit that doctor who told you that you were cured! :)

September football.

The Giants won a SB going 9-7 in a 16-game season, as I recall, but they were playing much better at the end of the season than at the beginning. This team is 1-1 right now. I think you are saying they have no chance without JD. I don't think JD is seriously injured and I think that's exactly what they are hoping to avoid.

The real concern, to me, is Kliff's playcalling. JD's chances of getting hurt increase because of it. I think well prepared defenses have a pretty good idea of what we are doing in some cases. They do some disguising but a lot of it is post-snap and we haven't done a good job of keeping rushers honest with well-designed, well-timed running play calls. I don't foresee that changing at this point, though.

I’ve watched enough football to know that championships aren’t won in September. I’ve watched our very own get off to hot starts when we knew they really stank and would come back to earth. I am well aware that there is plenty of football to play.

My post really didn’t have anything to do with that though. I just don’t have good vibes about this injury and the bludgeoning he took in getting it. Obviously hope to be wrong and he’s suiting up for Atlanta. I just don’t think this team can afford not to have him the next 2 weeks.

Yup, and he's small for a QB. His legs have usually let him run away from danger, but this tackle was different and he certainly wasn't ready for it.
I'm scared to death. Not to mention what these tickets cost. :( I didn't pay to see Mariota.

Just like 2012 and 2014...didn't get to see Robert either time (and I drank alllllll that fuckin' Koolaid).

Yes I understood you, I was ribbing you a bit in the start but I tried to clarify I understood you were saying that JD's injury was the real concern for you.

I agree that it is concerning and the team as constructed and with the playcalling, has very little chance without him. I do think they can make the playoffs even if they are missing him in the next two games. Heck, I think they can make the playoffs if they miss him for a lot of games early. I know, the chances diminish greatly, but after last year - for me - hope springs eternal on their ability to put wins together when they need them.

That is all a separate issue from my biggest concern - I am steadily losing faith in their ability to beat the big boys with Kliff's offensive philosophy. Having seen some breakdowns on GB's potential gameplan against the D... I am growing misgivings there too. Neither of those concerns have anything to do with our players. Not saying they are perfect, but now I'm starting to see some potential signs that against well-prepared teams, we may have some pretty serious problems.

Well that stinks. Fortunately Mariota is a good QB and gives the team a good chance to win.
Also, Jayden is going to be playing in Washington for the next decade! :pint: (it's Guinness instead of Koolaid!)

What Koolaid was there in 2014? We fired the Shanahans which weren't the teams biggest problem but kept the defensive coordinator which was a huge problem. By that point the shine was off RG3 completely and he was still looking bad in training camp/preseason.

So, how does the Giants and Packers defenses compare to the Raiders? I wonder how much Jayden suffered from not getting preseason reps (mind you, Marriotta didn't either, but a young player probably needs reps more.)

I'll put this here:

If I had to bet, I think JD5 is going to be out for the next 2 games at a minimum: @Atlanta, @San Diego. I think they want him back for the Monday night game against the Bears. That would give him 3 full weeks to heal and then build up strength again. It could even be @Dallas on October 19th. They really should be playing the long game on this. Mariota is just fine to play the next 3 games and we have a good likelihood of going 2-1 or something like that. They need to take their time. What you don't want is him limping around and getting hurt again.

Disclaimer: I am not a doctor, I don't know what they will do, I'm not even saying what I think they SHOULD do, I just know knee sprains and how careful they have been with everybody who is injured since Quinn got here. The reporting is he wasn't close last week. My guess is the progression goes from "not close" to "not available" to "closer" to playing.

So I'm speculating we see Mariota until the Bears game or Dallas game. I know the NFL would love Daniels to be available for the Bears and Dallas games.

That is reasonable Voice of Reason. I’ll be happy too if he is back for the Chicago game. If it’s really a sprained knee though, I would think he’s out at least a month so the Dallas game would be best case scenario.

Maybe it’s just me, but the second it was leaked by Grant Paulsen of all people, that he got an MRI and all the secrecy/lack of leaks thereafter, I knew it was bad news. Could feel it in my soul.

Seeing “MRI” always concerns me. Of course, I have my own bias as they seem to be given almost begrudgingly to the public, vs the League giving them almost reflexively. And I assume it’s (in part) to rule out more serious things, so not necessarily problematic. My sense is also that it’s used to determine severity of sprains as well? I could be wrong on all of that though, lol.

I assume we would have heard “out 3-4 weeks”, or something to that effect if it were more serious? My son and I are going to the game in Dallas, so maybe I’m just wish-casting here :)

This regime is very tight lipped about injuries and hey give nothing more than what is required. Hard to gauge the lack of specifics on time range to mean much of anything. I hope you get to see him suit up in Dallas.

Well, we usually get more VOICE than REASON

jk of course 😁😁
