That said, this is the definition of cherry picking bad stats to cause a stir type of tweet I hate.

Douglas actually played well last year. Robertson was forced to play outside and now he’s playing inside.

The position is a concern but that tweet aggravates me.

Peters' word salad response followed by repeating "we feel great about Nick" for the millionth time and declaring "Matt [Gulbin] is fantastic" as a triggering phrase coming from an authority figure in DC does not inspire confidence.

You can't just say "we love Nick". You have to explain why you think a guy who has been a backup guard his entire career, including the past two years in your own building, now has the makings of a starting Center. Does the scheme call for something different? Has the position evolved to lend itself to a different skillset or athletic profile? Has his command of the playcalling improved to where you think he is capable of this now where he wasn't before? Instead it's just DPRK state television: "We feel great about Nick"

Unfortunately it comes across as pretty patronizing to the fans to utter the phrase “two good starting level Centers” in reference to Allegretti + Gulbin.

We know you have to have your players backs and sell your decisions. This goes beyond that in a sort of insulting way. You gave Good-Jones almost all the starting C snaps the majority of the offseason, cut him and put him on the PS, but Gulbin is a “good starting level Center” now? It’s just shitting in the fans’ hands and telling them it’s money, come on.

Like, back your guys. Have confidence. But isn’t it enough to say “we have confidence that Allegretti can anchor this line, and we really like what Gulbin has shown as a rookie, we believe he can continue to develop into a good player for us” or something like that?
