Sure, but it all ties together.

Our coaching offseason didn’t help, either.

But it’s still early. There is quality out there, still. And some releases to happen. Even though I haven’t been a fan of our process this offseason even I understand that they need some time and there are still positive options.

Well, I am right there with Peters on guys that are over 30 - unless they are singular talents like a Tunsil playing a premium position adding term and guarantees can torpedo your cap.

Don’t have a problem in isolation with AP holding a firm line on contracts. The counter being we aren’t that attractive a destination, still, and to be honest I’m not convinced DQ and his staff hold an enormous amount of lure to them either.

I suspect he needs to swallow his pride on occasion as we desperately need quality additions. Oweh being one, hopefully we snag another significant move soon too.

I’m totally fine with that as long as there is an overall plan. Individual deals should definitely have limits. I like that. But we need to know “what’s next?” and be adaptive with the market on our values.

Now with a decent LB signed, I do feel better about that. That was a significant need, in my opinion arguably our biggest.

If we can get to the point where our roster isn't a dumpster fire, then I like this approach... but we have to get to the point where the building has a foundation of some kind, which may require bending on this approach for a couple of consecutive seasons.

Pierce somehow is married to a Colts team where the quarterback is out injured and this is a club that hasn’t been known as a great organization in recent years.

Turning down more money may be a blessing in disguise 2-3 years from now if he has already plateaued and a team signing him might still have to draft a #1 in 2027.

Doubs was simply in love with Drake Maye and that bromance from afar determined where he chose to go. I don’t know Maye has done enough to warrant that kind of following. He looked pretty average against Denver and Seattle in the playoffs and will face a much harder schedule in 2026 after a tour against the Sisters of the Poor in 2025.

More than any other position these guys are very mercurial and emotional and hard to predict.

There are some analysts who were saying whatever money WAS offered could have ended up being a wash or less depending on Pierce's financial advisors maybe pointing out various cost of living factors. I don't know, it was some random analyst on the radio at some point, but I could see a lot of things tipping the scales towards the Colts. It's got a lot of moving parts.

The players we have signed are pretty high echelon players so it did not seem to scare them away and you can make an argument that they secured either their first or second options (at mostly reasonable deals without overpayments.) On the other side of the ball, are we seeing more reticence by offensive players because Dan is perceived on the hotseat and Blough is such a question mark? A number of high profile players seemed to opt elsewhere despite fairly strong pushes by our side according to reports.

Overall, I'm not displeased with how free agency has gone so far. Like everyone else, I'd love to see a tight end and a wide receiver. You can even make the argument that a solid, blue collar wide receiver would be welcome if we can't get a splash player.

I can see that. For the player, the simple statement is "Maye" but the reality is he is talking about the whole operation and its ability to make him look good.

Right now obviously NEP has that advantage on us, their vector is pointing up and ours is pointing down. Two simple data points over two seasons make the picture clear. It is what it is, no sugarcoating.

It's very possible our strikeouts are based around Blough and the instability at O. Looking at playing with JD as great but what about if he gets injured and that getting factored in. Lots of potential reasons to put us down a couple of spots.

That's OK.

Then you have to pivot to a deeper strategy on draft for O, maybe trade down and get RB and WR covered with good assets that you need. I'm not sure if a single blue-chip player moves the needle enough on his own. I gather from reading everyone here that some (including you!) think Love may be that guy; if so, awesome if he's available.

Regardless though, I do think they have options in the draft now if D is covered much better, which I think we can all agree it is. Perfect? Of course not. Much better though.

Also, I think Aiyuk is of course still on the table, although I don't remember when he's even slated to be available?
