IF AP shopped Tyler Biadasz and was asking for too much (draft pick wise), he should have taken what he could have gotten for him. I, like some on BGO, think we could have gotten a much-needed draft pick for him. The savings would have been the same for either releasing him or trading him. AP could have been kind to him and just released him letting him go to his team of choice but that's not good football team GM business.

The fact Harbaugh signed him to a 3 year contract at max value of $30M shows people in the NFL think Biadasz has value as a starter in the league.

After previous visits to Chicago, etc. it appears a number of other teams thought so too.

Only our front office seemed to look at him as a liability we needed to rid ourselves of before we even signed a replacement.

And please don't bring up Allegretti. He stunk at either guard position and he played two games at center in the garbage portion of the season when the Eagles were resting most of their defense.

You're really sensitive about Keim. If you go back and read my post, you'll notice that I didn't actually mention anything about him. If you look carefully, I said, and I quote, "I was going to say I disagree with just about all everything after your summary of the Keim thing. ... " The key phrase here is "after your summary of the Keim thing." I never even commented about what you summarized from Keim. My entire post was a reaction to your post starting at "To add my own editoria"

I never brought up Keim or said anything about him. However, you saw Keim and assumed somebody was attacking him. Which, at least in this case, wasn't the case at all.

My entire post was about Peters, and the fact I think you've gone a little bit far on the criticism due to a correlation you've made between actions and arrogance.

I think you might have a little bit of Ron Rivera and Bruce Allen induced PTSD where you're drawing a conclusion which isn't really there. However, you're more than entitled to that opinion. As I am thinking it's going a bit far.

The way you phrased it initially made me think you were referring back to the last exchange about Keim, so that’s how I took it.

I understand now that you were referring to Keim’s conversation with a team source, so my apologies for misreading that.

More generally, when it comes to Keim — and really going back to ES and some of the broader criticism of media people — I understand your point. It’s completely fair to question how informed certain reporters are, and in many cases that skepticism is probably warranted. At the same time, there are also a few who, at least from my perspective, have shown some credibility based on what they’ve reported and how events ultimately played out. Whether or not you agree with that is entirely fine.

I think the only point I’m trying to make is the "sensitivity" is based on some of the responses on this topic can come across, even if unintentionally, as dismissive of people who may weigh those reports differently. I’m not saying that’s your intent, only that it can sometimes read that way.

For example, when you've used the argument multiple times including recently that Keim didn’t know about a particular development, so that proves they aren’t reliable as we think, the part that can be frustrating is not the skepticism itself. It’s that it can feel as though those of us who give some credence to certain reporters are being lumped in as gullible or uninformed, when I don’t think anyone is suggesting those reporters know everything that’s happening with the team.

I think there’s room to be skeptical of media coverage without assuming that people who see some value in it are being naive.

We need a starting C that's for sure 😠

AP should be pro actively looking to trade Daron Payne, letting him casually play out his contract shouldn’t be an option.

Im undecided on this one, i get wanting to maximum value but players walk as unrestricted free agents all the time, frequently better younger players than Payne.
If we're as active as we're hoping we'll be this year it means we may not be that active next year and he could possibly get us a compensatory pick.

If hes motivated in a contract year we'll need his services this year and that may be the best route.

Bram-Standig-Keim did a series of podcasts this week, good listens. The last one was on the state of the team.

All three have somewhat of a different bent on the team.

Bram continues over time to either subtly or more heavy handed way defend Peters approach to the last off season. I think Standig had a good comeback to Bram to going on about how underrated it is that Peters hasn't saddled the team with bad contracts -- Standig hts backs with no risk no reward, so no kudos for not taking risks. I agree with Standig.

Bram continues to harp on the NFC East is on the rise. Dallas and the Giants are making or about to make moves that will make them serious threats. And this team has no choice but to compete with them in FA.

Standig thinks this team isn't a hot FA destination spot in year 3 after last season in part because of people on the hot seat and the Giants for example would be the more sexy spot for a FA to sign everything being equal.

Keim seems a little concerned about the ups and downs of learning on the job for Blough -- just the inevitable you learn from experience ride Blough is about to undergo in a must win season. Standig also seems a little concerned about going with new coordinators.

What I did like is all three think they will be aggressive this off season with Keim saying they absolutely know the stakes of this season.

I think one of the biggest concerning factors isn't getting enough play/attention.

As fans, we spend 99% of our focus this time of the year on who Washington should go after in free agency. The problem is - 'going after' is only half of the equation. Yes - we have some good cap money to spend. But if we are being honest, if you're a big time player in free agency, what valid reasons are there to want to come to DC?

? Great location/destination? No. Expensive. Terrible traffic. Very high taxes.
? Great coaching staff? Who knows, but can't be a definitive 'yes' because the head coach may be on at least a warm seat
? Super Bowl contenders? Nah. We could struggle just to make the playoffs with all new coordinators, another year of 40%+ roster turnover, etc...
? Team stability? Again, who knows? But it doesn't feel very stable having just blown up the coaching staff and coming off a 5 win season.
? Opportunity for a big payday? Probably not compared to other NFL teams (it has not been Peters tendency to set league marks for high salaries)

Those are all big factors in free agent decisions and I don't see us being super attractive when it comes to most of that. One positive factor.... we have an amazing QB. That could be a big factor for offensive free agents.

Good points. Some dig the location that compared to some other spots but its not Vegas, Miami, California. Dallas has the hype and attention. NY has the biggest media market and attention. Texas with no income taxes.

I do agree Jayden is the prime attraction. Maybe a little bit of Quinn having the reputation of being a great guy to play for but even that is dampened by he could be gone in 2027.

Otherwise I'd put it at an average attraction spot but not a place with special appeal.

There are a number of good players from the DMV. In Ron’s first FA class here, he snagged Fuller, Darby and Thomas, all locals

I’d personally save the cash, create the cap space, reinvest, get younger etc

Just to play contrarian, in 2025 the narrative that was coming off the NFCCG with the most exciting rookie QB, a new owner that has improved everything and a super friendly coach in Quinn that Washington would be by far everyone's preferred destination. That didn't materialize. So, I think it is questionable how much any of these negative factors may weigh on players' or agents' minds as long as the money is green and guarenteed.

You may question it but these guys are humans. You don’t think affordability, where they will live, the quality of their coworkers, etc… matters (both to them and their loved ones who they are potentially uprooting?

I think it matters a lot. So does the ‘green’ but I’m suggesting other factors matter more than we believe they do. There is a lot of competition for free agents and they all involve plenty of ‘green’ - which is why details matter.

I think the fact that we have an excellent QB that most players in the league would love to play along sides is a much bigger factor than all of those supposed negatives that 20-30 year olds don't even think about when they are going to get paid to play a game.
