I like how he started with that stud Chiefs offensive tackle Chris Jones. How can this guy know so little about football, yet talk about it like he knows something. I thought it was just a mistake, but then he said “they could really use him”. No Rick, no they couldn’t really use him since he is a defensive tackle. He is better than anything they have on the d line, but they are committed to Payne and Allen and would be Ron Rivera foolish to invest that much in another DT.

To me he has become a buffoon. Harsh I know but he brings absolutely nothing notable to the table Washington football wise. I’m glad for him that he has found a niche to monetize but he should stick to historical tours and pizza reviews.

and it's official

Edit: better picture

It’s not sexy, but he’s an improvement over what they had.

I have desired a pass catching white TE for a long, long time probably because of Washington’s inability to defend against them, like they were somehow invisible or transparent.

If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em. 😎

If Ertz just stays healthy the entire season he's an upgrade

Yeah, it's a one year deal so minimal risk for Washington. Ertz was a conscientious player and hard worker in Philly. Definitely didn't have too many of those types of players on the roster last year.

Have to see the deal, but I wonder if he's a place holder at this case in case they can't find a solution in the draft?

That makes me think it's borderline. Cheap enough that if someone really outplays him they can cut him for a better use of a roster spot, but expensive enough that it sounds like they hope he's a plug and play temporary fix.

IMO the tight end position here is among the worst in the NFL.

We need 2 or even 3 prospective performers at the position, so Ertz to me is a keeper as a pass catcher even if he ultimately comes in as a backup.

I don't see any of the roster players being long for the organization.

Monday is the start of the NFL’s 2-day legal tampering period.

What the hell is ‘legal’ tampering? Glad you asked.

During the two-day period, all teams have the right to negotiate "all aspects of an NFL player contract" with the certified agent of an impending free agent. Figures can be exchanged on a deal, but nothing can be agreed to or announced before the start of free agency on Wednesday. 😉

There are restrictions to this process.
- A free agent player is not permitted to visit with a team other than their current team.

- A player cannot be in contact with a team that is not their own. Only the agent can communicate on the player's behalf during this period.

- If a player acts as his own agent, he's out of luck -- the NFL does not allow communication with another team before Wednesday.

More than a couple good safeties have been released due to cap cutting in the past 2-3 days. I would imagine that would affect Kam Curl’s leverage.

esp. since Kam had an off year last year.

You can now add Keanu Neal- Pittsburg to that list.

Gonna be a number of guys working for less money this next year.

Wow.

Is it that these players were overvalued, the position value has diminished as far as coaches are concerned or both possibly? Obviously the salary cap plays a role but I do wonder if we're seeing a resetting of the overall market similar to RB's a few years ago when their overall value in the NFL just plummeted for the most part.
