Redskins fear Galette has torn achilles and is out for the season.

I just heard about it too. Hopefully the young guys will step up and Junior will be ready for next season.

Feel bad for the guy. But the bottom line is, he's never so much as made a tackle for this team. Can't miss what you never had.
I think we own the option on him for next year. He can always try again.

As for time? 3 Years should be enough for any QB to develop enough to give you an idea of what he can or cannot be. I think he's had enough time to make a statement without relying too heavily upon a single season that was created by a gimmick offense to cater to his strengths...a gimmick that has come and gone. And yes, the offense he ran in his rookie year is gone. Only portions of it, used at the proper times during a game, continue. We've seen the best from this guy. The organization cannot wait another...how many years?

I was talking to BigMike about this. Did Nike roll out new cleats or something? SC brought up that guys are bigger, stronger, and faster then ever before. I agree this is a factor but good lord this is getting insane!

I agree brother. I think three years should have been enough to at least see more than we saw against Detroit--particularly given this entire offseason had been about waiting to see if he'd made discernible progress. We have two short appearances to go on so far, and the returns are, at best, uneven. We'll get another sample Saturday night, and go from there.

Bottom line, and in answer to the real question, as you ask in your last sentence ... one year. 2015 has to be it. I'm guessing it'll be very clear by the end of this season, one way or another, whether or not we'll ever be nano-parsing Bob's pocket presence and mastery of passing basics in a preseason game again.

With so many notable players smote by the football gods, it's natural to wonder if injuries are becoming more prevalent.

Since the offseason began, 25 players have sustained ACL injuries. That's not far off the offseason and preseason marks of 2013 (31) and 2014 (22).

Considering each of the 32 teams has 90 players under roster, that means fewer than one percent have been lost for the season.

Ok. Preseason is not over with yet and there are still some guys on the maybe list. And I know Galette was an ankle.
With that preface, maybe there are more notable names that are falling and that is why there seems to be a high mortality rate.

Anyway, I was pretty surprised when I read it.

The NFL should've reduced pre-season to 2 games max years ago. It is almost criminal that they haven't. It's coming though.

B Mitch and Doc were discussing the seemingly upward trend of season ending injuries, pointed to their own 'get ready' regimen that included more work in camp doing football movements with gear-on contact .

Figured their bodies adjusted gradually toward game ready fitness. Now with fewer/shorter allowed physical sessions the body does not get ready gradually, putting high stress too quickly as the real season approaches.

They also pointed out that most of what we're hearing is about high profile guys so reactions are a little more intense.

The various theories as to why all the injuries all make intellectual sense, but unless the number and severity of injuries today versus back in the day is substantial, they kinda lose their steam, right? If it's true that this year's rash is not really out of line with previous years of course.
