Because he’s an arrogant prick and that would allow him to preempt any argument that he was forced ‘out’ due to being a pathetic excuse of a human being. It would also give him (or his progeny) a potential avenue to return as majority owners at a later date.

This is what scares me the most. It’s why I believe the league will have to step in on this. Even if it’s behind the scenes, they will have to make sure he doesn’t have some sort of way back in.

Could we really find ourselves back at the RFK site? I think everyone's preference has always been to have it IN the city.... That's a 'smaller' site so I don't think there's enough room to put a stadium there that rivals Jerry's World... but man, 65K seat stadium in down town DC?




I know at one point they 'wanted' to have an all inclusive type facility with practice fields, amphitheater, and other things, but a new owner could easily nix that. IMHO it would make more sense to invest in the current property in Ashburn with necessary upgrades and attention, and put the stadium at the RFK site..
 
I only got to go to RFK a few times back during the glory years, but that was one helluva fun dump. It was also so easy to get to because of Metro. You're probably right that you couldn't build a Superbowl-worthy stadium there, but the gravitational pull of nostalgia is pretty strong.

On the other hand, I guess this ties to my "trying to have your cake and eat it, too" complaint.

There is a strong connection between the Washington Redskins and RFK. There is ZERO connection between the Washington Commanders and RFK. Hell, Snyder didn't even own the team when we played there. In fact, I'd be a little surprised if there was even one employee of the Commanders who can trance his lineage back to the RFK days.

(And get off my lawn! I'm not that old!!!)
 
You aren't going to build a 95,000 seat stadium in Washington just like the Giants and Eagles weren't able to either. Dallas is a unique case - there are a lot of Dallas fellow travelers that route through that stadium to see games and these folks come from North Dakota and Wyoming to make a vacation of it. When I went to a game there I sat in a section where the closest fan was from Oklahoma!

And when you look at land prices, the Dallas area despite seeing rises in recent years is still relatively cheap compared to the Northeast and West Coast.

Washington needs a city stadium that seats 60-65K with a premium and creative design team on board and is accessible via public transportation.

I used to live downtown in the 1980's and I went to games every year at RFK. Travel for 30 minutes to the game. Finish up, hit the Metro to go out to dinner and a favorite beverage after the game and be home usually by 7-8pm.

The toilet bowl they call a stadium in Maryland and takes most fans more than an hour to get to and another hour to park would only be tolerable if the team had Mahomes and went 13-3 or 14-2 every year.

With Snyder at the helm I gave up on Fedex Field back in 2006. The last game I went to in person was a 17-13 win over the Carolina Panthers when Joe Gibbs was still the coach and Jason Campbell wore #17.
 
I’d probably prefer the stadium to be in Virginia … sentimentality with ‘Washington’ aside, most of this teams fans live there.

I don’t really get the RFK location love. As others have said, not sure it’s large enough to accommodate even a smallish modern stadium or what most teams want to build alongside of it.I was there many times (more for soccer than Redskins) and I don’t recall it being very visually appealing in therms of being ‘in the city’ like the Panthers stadium is (right down town in the midst of the city’s skyscrapers filled skyline). That area is a rundown mess(or was). Other than trying to conjure up winning spirits from glory days long gone, I just don’t see the appeal. And on top of that, fuck the DC government who tried to hold the franchise hostage over our previous name.
 
As it turns out Snyder was only going to hold onto the name as long as it didn't cost him any money, so he's a whore too.

It was a popular move with fans to say he was NEVER going to change the name but that declaration came free of charge at the time.

I don't necessarily disagree that Northern Virginia isn't a good spot. There's energy and vitality in the region and would support a good NFL team with the right ownership group.

Selfishly, I like to go to the game and see the cutaways through to the Washington Monument and the feel of being downtown.

Few teams play downtown anymore. The Giants really started that trend with the first Meadowlands complex.
 
Having the stadium in DC would be good for a lot of reasons, but there are some challenges. Not the least of which is crime that is getting worse and worse in DC. Logistics could be interesting as well. The actual site of RFK is too small to build more than just a stadium. But they could take up some of the roads and build where existing parking lots are. Parking would be even more of a mess in that area though. As for that area, I'm not sure if it's still run down, but I know they have renovated the area around Nationals Stadium. That used to be an awful area to be in, but they have made it much nicer. I expect that if they do build in DC, it will come with the goal of revitalizing an area that needs it. Whether they could make an entire complex in that area or not, that is a different story. But I'm sure there are areas where they could build a stadium in DC or even a practice facility there.

As for Virginia, I agree that is probably the best site from a fan perspective. The downside is that it doesn't solve any of the current traffic issues related to the stadium. But in reality, I'm not sure there is anywhere you could put it that wouldn't have major traffic issues.

Wherever it is, I just want them to make it a place where people want to go. The current stadium has many, many more reasons to not go to it than to go to it. That needs to change. No situation will be perfect, but it needs to be somewhere people want to go. Winning of course will be the number 1 driver of getting fans to the stadium.
 
So Bezos is selling the Post to buy the Commanders. Or not selling the Post to buy the Commanders. Or not selling the Post and not buying the Commanders.

I think I'm up to date.

I think the question when it comes to Snyder is whether he believes the owners would back down. I think they whispered to him that they might force a sale. If they did then he'd get a much worse bid in all likelihood. If he thinks that the heat is off then he might backtrack, but I think that's not the case. IMO, Snyder not showing up for the season finale is pretty damn telling. That suggests to me that his heart's no longer in it and mentally he's gone.

I could be overreading things though.
 
Man was Neophyte right when he predicted we would hear nothing on a potential team sale until the ink had dried on the agreement. I mean, not even whispers out there. In other words, it's quiet - too quiet :)

Also interesting that there hasn't been a peep about any of the other Snyder-related investigations - particularly the NFL's own 'investigation'. Almost like there's been some negotiating in the background 'if you agree to sell, we will wait until after you are no longer the owner to release any findings'.
 
That's a very good sign that Snyder himself thinks something is about to get done.
