I think we are saying the same thing. The NFL is a private business and can enforce their bylaws as they see fit. A businesses decisions treatment and actions imposed on ‘franchisees’ (‘owners’) or employees can always be legally challenged but a company isn’t compelled to delay implementation of a decision because the subject files a lawsuit unless they can find a judge willing to impose an injunction.

I think that’s right but yeah, we aren’t lawyers..
 
In a society where one can sue for literally anything, and Daniel Snyder is nothing if not litigious, I would be hard-pressed to believe that his vast cadre of lawyers don’t have a plethora of potential legal defenses locked and loaded.

If the NFL moves forward despite a lawsuit being filed…how in the world would Snyder be fairly compensated for the loss of his franchise and the inherent profits to be realized in the future were he to prevail?

Sounds suspect to me.

They can force him out as owner meaning he would be forced to sell. He gets fully compensated in the end.

He is a ‘franchisee’ for all intents and purposes and while he’ll have to be the recipient of fair value for the team currently if forced out, unless a judge or jury were to find he had been wrongfully removed, I don’t think he’d have any claim that he’d been unlawfully deprived of future profits.

Since no one thought this was ever possible and it is looking like perhaps it could actually happen, I don’t think we are very well versed on how it would actually go down and the mechanics of removing an owner against his will.

It also doesn't bode well, that if they really thought it was Juicy, TODAY would be the day for it to be all over the news....
 
I don’t think it means anything in terms of what the nature of their findings will be. This is Congress we’re talking about. They move at their own speed and it’s probably just not in final form yet would be my guess. It’s going to be scathing and it’s going to be damning.

Yes, there is a lot we don’t know. There is probably a lot the League and it’s owners don’t know, as well. As Andrew Brant would say…’there will be lawyers’.

To your 2nd paragraph…yes, of course. Except a lawsuit, if won by Snyder, would be very problematic for the NFL AND it’s other owners. How would fair compensation be determined if the court system (including appeals) finds for Snyder and his franchise has already been taken away and sold?

I have to say, if Snyder does survive all this and we don’t at minimum get him relocated as an owner elsewhere - I think I’m done as a fan.

At some point you have to live your ideals or you are a fraud.

How many Dems on the Oversight Committee are up for re-election in a couple 3 weeks? The chairwoman has already lost her primary and won’t be returning so she has some free time. I wonder how many others are preoccupied at the moment with more personal ambitions.
 
If I had to guess, I would say that there are NFL owners already "in the know" about what the Congressional Committee has found and will release. These guys, due to the nature of their business and how tightly stadiums are tied to government funds, have their local, state, and national elected officials on speed dial.

I totally agree. 👊🏼

I just think that there is a lot of hope that whatever happens will be swift and clean. I am old enough and experienced enough to know that almost nothing is.
 
Colts’ owner Jim Irsay became the first NFL owner today to publicly speak out about Commanders’ owner Daniel Snyder. “I believe there is merit to removing him as owner of the (Commanders)," Irsay said from the hotel lobby of the Conrad New York Downtown. "There's consideration that he should be removed." He added: “Some of the things I've heard doesn't represent us at all. want the American public to know what we're about as owners...You can't shy away from the fact that, I believe it's in the best interest of the National Football League that we look at this squarely in the eyes and deal with it."
