I wish Tom Davis would shut up, not sure what he knows about any specifics. Many of the bro culture allegations specifically call out Snyder and predate Allen so the new Snyder claims already seem absurd on their face.
the republicans have made it clear that if/when they get power back this will go away. Too bad. Leaving politics out, originally I did think this was a waste of time but I came around because it would be nice to know there is some accountability for failing to provide a safe environment for people and even fostering the opposite (leaving some of the extreme allegations aside, which obviously make it that much worse). When the NFL makes it clear they are not policing, then someone maybe (arguably) did need to step in, even though in an ideal world it would not be needed.

Well Davis was the one who wrote the 9 page letter, and is on the payroll of the firm that represents Snyder, so he's going to be as loud as he possibly can... I wish reporters were more aggressive about pointing that out up front... i actually had a conversation via Twitter last night with AJ Perez about it... it evolved (or devloved based on your opinion) into a bigger broader conversation about the fanbase, but it is what it is. I know Tweets are limited in characters, so they gotta pick and choose, but the fact that Davis is on Snyder's payroll is just as important to validating (or invalidating) his opinion, as the fact that he used to chair the Committee.
 
The sad thing is, this whole thing with congress has been a dog and pony show from the start. Now Snyder got one of his dogs to bark about the other dogs. As soon as I saw the guy was from northern VA, I knew what was happening. This ultimately comes down to what the NFL will do and that picture with Jones was discouraging on that front. It was a sign that he knows the owners will protect him no matter what. The only hope I had was that during this whole thing, Snyder would be dumb and do something illegal which would get him in trouble with congress. Otherwise, we are waiting for the owners to kick out one of the guys they normally push around.
 
Tom Davis is trying to use an "unclean hands" sort of argument on the witnesses' credibility and sway public opinion that way.

The public is not exactly wise to the understanding of things on a lawyerly level. The prima facie(on its face) is not the end all be all of things to consider when it comes to misconduct. Now, it might be so for taking action against misconduct, but not to completely destroy suspicion or caution.
 
Just read that ... nothing new or particularly insightful, but a well-crafted 30K-foot overview. I walk away feeling like I have for several years now--the league owners don't have the stomach for the legal shitstorm they reasonably suspect would come from trying to force Synder out. Right now the "best case" I see is him caving to back-channel threats and turning ownership over to the Mrs.

Which basically means, we're stuck.
 
No one has ever alleged he’s hired private investigators to dig up dirt on Goodell and other owners. If that is substantiated he’s toast.

That is an absolute bombshell.
 
I thought it was long established he'd hired private investigators over the years to dig up dirt? This just seemed a logical extension of that to me. Maybe if it could be proved he'd done so to actual, named owners, one or two more of them "on the fence" at the moment would be pissed enough to stick their necks out and vote to remove him. Hope so.

Issue will be--as it always is with Snyder--proving it and whether or not it matters to the other owners one way or the other.

Maybe I'm just too numb at this point to consider anything short of an actual indictment for something illegal a bombshell.

One thing that did jump out was the pretty adamant assertion what Wentz was a Snyder move. Still chewing that one over.
 
I think it’s been assumed he ‘had dirt’ on other owners and that is one barrier to them considering his removal, that he would use the nuclear option. That is different from actual reporting he has actually done so and is threatening other owners.

I think the other nugget (in addition to the one about Wentz) is that someone in his ‘inner circle’ is talking to the press. And I think the Jason Wright comments that ‘the culture will never change until ownership is addressed’ - that’s also a pretty big revelation.

Makes me wonder if it is Jason Wright who is talking.

This is getting a lot of attention/play.
 
Also puts Rivera’s ‘Quarterback’ comment in a different context. Maybe they didn’t want Wentz.
 
Well, we do know that they'd taken swings at both Russell Wilson and Jimmy G. before Wentz ... and I believe were at least rumored to be looking at Trubisky and maybe Mayfield? If we start connecting dots from that article, since it's apparently no secret Synder believes that either a franchise QB or a new stadium are the silver bullet he needs to survive, the Wentz thing starts to swim into greater focus. He saw the stadium thing falling apart around him ...
 
Possible the coaches wanted your boy in the draft and were told to sign Wentz. Would be 100% consistent and might also explain why he was so expensive (if the Colts knew Snyder was driving the acquisition).
 
Article re-emphasizes what many of us have surmised over the past 20 years - Dan Snyder is a reprehensible human being who you wouldn't really want to know or do business with. His wife, like Bill Cosby's, evidently likes the money and power enough to stand by him and do just about anything to 'defend the realm' in spite of the evidence that is out there.

I remember at the time Snyder bought the team and the league approved it thinking that it seemed a bit of a stretch to hand the keys to a marquee franchise to a 34 year old who had limited resources and had to go to Mort Zuckerman to get the majority of the financing for the purchase.

You see what ownership groups have bought marquee franchises like the Dodgers in recent years and the owners brought considerable resources to the table to show their commitment.
 
Just came in to post that article. Gives me hope that ESPN publishing something so broad and detailed might mean the walls are closing in on him. Interesting points on how the owners may be able to force him to leave by withholding the ability for him to borrow instead of just kicking him out.

Snyder showed Ebbin photos of other state-of-the-art new stadiums around the country, making clear that he wanted one of his own. Snyder's goal was for a bill that would create a stadium authority that would leverage taxpayer dollars into the creation of a massive commercial development project with a stadium at the center. But when Ebbin pushed Snyder on specifics, like how much tax revenue a new stadium would bring in and what it would ultimately cost taxpayers, Snyder had no answers. Nor did Snyder's chief of staff or two lobbyists also present at his house that day. "It was a weird meeting," Ebbin says.

If the 31 owners have any sense of pride, they will take this personally, and schedule the damn meeting to vote on his removal. Get 24 already.

Not surprised at all by this. He just does something without knowing what he is doing then let’s someone else take care of the consequences. It’s how he’s run this organization for 23 years.

Wasn’t he on super secret double probation at the time? I don’t remember the timeline of his “suspension of owner duties”, but if so, maybe that’s something else for the league to pile on? If not, then they will just laugh and giggle like always at everything he does.
