The Bombshell

If she wants to get disbarred :). That won’t happen, she’s be done as attorney I believe.

The Wilkinson report suggested he sell the team? The controversies that led to that report being commissioned started before the name change process began, right - the team was still the Redskins? Maybe that is why Snyder turned away from his "NEVER" comment, maybe that is the level of desperation he felt. Prior to the name change/drop, I felt he may be the least likely owner to push for a name change, almost bar any possible owner of this team. I guess all of this controversy was deep enough, and he knew it. I am not getting my hopes up until it is concrete that he is selling. He has slimed his way out too often, and I fully believe that he wants this team to be his family legacy. He doesn't understand how he has destroyed the team in so many ways; not even talking about the on field product which has been brought to the ground from the highest heights, but the brand. The team "Commanders" started under HIS watch - even that has a crusty veneer thanks to his filthy fingerprints. If they can get rid of him, and do it soon, maybe then they can save it a bit and it can be a true fresh start.

As long as he is connected, there is no fresh start for this team.

I think it's quite possible, if not likely, that Snyder agreed to give up the name battle in return for assurances Goodell would have his back on the sexual harassment allegations. If it could ever be proven, that would be it for both of them but we will probably never know.

That's a great point. These guys are so used to getting whatever they want and skating through. They know that people generally have a short memory on things. So, they want to wait it out, deflect, and they think they can do almost anything then.

I generally don't want the government putting a bunch of oversight on private companies and organizations, but when there is rampant harassment and an organization refuses to do anything meaningful about it over a long period of time; and especially, when the organization has a position of high visibility (and in particular if there is privilege granted by the government)? Then, there is a position for some oversight. We as a society should not tolerate rampant harassment. That is a place for oversight, unfortunately. Even writing that - I don't like the idea of oversight of private companies, but I think in this case it is warranted.

They had no intention of coming to any true resolution. I wonder how different it truly is at other NFL offices. I mean, I'm not at all saying it's the same, but I wonder how aboveboard / clean it is elsewhere, including NFL HQ.

Politically I agree. But in addition to my being able to justify almost anything in my mind if it results in Dan Snyder packing his trash, I think the NFL is one of the last remaining monopolies in the business world. There is no competition and they hold their customers completely hostage. They operate generally without regulation, enjoy protections few businesses ever receive, and are almost entirely self-regulated. It's time that they are made to understand that as a business operating in the United States, no matter how dominant and powerful they are, that they are still subject to the same standards every other business is held to in 2022.

You think? All she said is that the team should answer all the questions. Or are you referring to her saying they should be in Washington?

Yeah, that is what she said but what I heard was something closer to "we want the team back in DC but before that can happen the team needs to cooperate with Congress to clear this up".

I could be wrong but that felt a little like the opening shots in a move by the city to push Snyder.

Okay. That’s great. But A) what took so long? And B) the team has made it pretty clear that they likely aren’t building the next stadium in DC. Feels like she is trying to apply pressure but they have no leverage imho. It’s like threatening your wife who’s leaving you that you won’t sleep with her anymore…

Yeah seems she’s just wanting to get in on the discussion even though the team will never move back there.

I make it a habit to never say never.

I, for one, can totally see the team moving back to DC.

Only if the offers are otherwise equal.

True, but highly unlikely imo. Dan wouldn’t want to touch that after all her faux views on Redskins being a racist term. I can’t see the new owner (fingers crossed) choosing DC over Northern Virginia either, especially when the proposal is for a huge entertainment complex. Something the RFK grounds couldn’t handle size wise.

I mean where would the kayak moat go?

I think that's a huge question mark right now. IF - and it's a big if - there is really momentum building to remove Snyder, what does that do to a rumored deal for a new stadium in Virginia?

I’d like to think accelerate the process, but you’re right it’s a guessing game.

Here’s another, if the team gets a new owner there’s no guarantee he/she keeps Ron & company around either. Could be a scorched earth razing of the team.

I don't think anyone is moving on from Rivera right out of the gate. He's extremely well respected and setting aside on the field success, he's done an admirable job navigating numerous challenges his first 2 seasons. Just my opinion.

The sale and transfer of ownership is not going to be a quick process anyway, even if the other owner’s voted to take the franchise away from him tomorrow.

As Andrew Brandt says often…’there will be lawyers’.

Wonder if Goodell has a copy of the cheerleader tape and use it for leverage. Like “Dan, move TF along & quick like and this video stays hidden”

Hate is a very strong word, but the pure disdain I have for Snyder right now is max’d.
