Wasn't Wylie a guard for the Chiefs Superbowl run the year before we signed him? He at least can push the pile forward.
The spin and circles from the local media are comical, they really are trying to have Peters back. One minute they are saying Peters doesn't Value the position as much as others and mentioning a Belicheck philosophy, the next sentence saying we were in on Tyler Lindenbaum while also completly ignoring one of his very first signings was giving $30Mil to Biadaz.

Now that it isn't a battle between Paul and Coleman for left guard, I wouldn't mind giving Wylie some reps. I don't want to wreck Paul's confidence but I do believe the best five players should start.

I’d love to see the methodology on these studies. At face value I’d agree that in general this is the case, but situationally it is almost the exact opposite.

A good power back in short yardage vs. Trung Canidate in short yardage… defenses completely take that into consideration.

Makes a lot of sense. He's got to be better than Good-Jones!

He has the base and strength to hold up. It of course is more of a question with shotgun snaps, line calls and communications due to lack of NFL experience.

It's wild how much has shifted from the Tunsil & Alegretti injuries. Actually writing down the situation and numbers of OL becomes bad news. Here is also a possible timeline of events for who they thought could go where.

Camp Started

• LT = Tunsil
• RT = Conerly
  • OT Backup = Wylie
• LG = Coleman
• RG = Cosmi
  • Guard backup = Paul
• C = Alegretti
  • C backup = Good Jones

1. Paul's struggles are less pronounced as a backup.
2. Gulbin can slowly develop as the 9th OL on the roster
3. Wylie is below average but sort of competent as a backup

Tunsil & Alegretti get hurt

• LT = Coleman
• RT = Conerly
  • OT Backup = Wylie
• LG = Paul
• RG = Cosmi
  • Guard backup = Gulbin
• C = Good Jones
  • C backup = Gulbin

1. Paul's struggles become glaring as the starter
2. They shift Gulbin's development to 50/50 Guard/Center because they might need to replace Paul
3. Good Jones struggles even worse and Gulbin needs more developmental time at Center now to replace Good Jones
4. Gulbin back to 100% Center.
5. Gulbin > Paul pipedream is put on hold.

• LT = Coleman

• LG = Paul
• RG = Cosmi
  • Guard backup = ...
• C = Gulbin
  • C backup = ...

If Alegretti comes back, then Gulbin can be experimented with as a possible Guard to replace Paul. Honestly I would like to move Wylie to LG to replace Paul...but it's possible the team is looking at the OT depth and think it's practically non-existent.

For all we know the team thinks we only have 7 rosterable OL.

1. Coleman
2. Conerly
3. Wylie
4. Cosmi
5. Paul
6. Gulbin
7. ...an injured Alegretti

I believe NFL rosters average 9 OL. We're currently at just 6 OL with Alegretti hurt. Cut-down day is going to have the Commanders put out claims at best available for any OL spot. As any improvement to depth let's them shift guys around. Even if it's just 2 OT's are all we can manage to add to the roster, it at least lets us move Wylie to Guard.

I can see 7 WR making the roster Day 1. But by Day 2 we've dropped a WR to make room for Waiver Wire OL claims.

I am less worried about the Tunsil injury than the never ending issues at C. Of course Tunsil is preferred but I don't think Coleman is a bad option. He wasn't bad in 2024 and the assumption is his development and experience would still have made him a prime candidate to takeover once Tunsil's contract was over. The center position behind Alegretti looks more bleak to me and feels like something to legit worry about.

You should be worried about more than just C. The Tunsil injury shifted Coleman from LG, and reports are Paul is struggling. It sounds like his pass protection has regressed from last year and his run blocking is still awful.
