The fans wanted Peters to upgrade the WR room this offseason. Peters himself said it was one of the most important things needed to help Jayden. He ultimately added a good (albeit older) #2 so good for him. Prior to that all of his efforts were unsuccessful. On the OL - it's fair to say some of it is just bad injury luck. However, Peters created a hole at center, let his former starter walk, assumed he could just plug Allegretti in there, and now is caught with his pants down because we don't even have a serviceable backup. That is a fair assessment imho.

And while I agree 'doing something' just to do something isn't always a sound strategy, giving Jayden Daniels time to throw and keeping him off the ground are pretty important priorities. Right now it looks like whether we can even do that is in serious question. So 'doing something' doesn't sound like a bad idea.

If losing a starter or two blows up your season, you didn't plan very well, and you don't have the right backups on your roster. Maybe it will all be fine, but I think there are serious questions about some of Peters decision-making and what we did at center is one of them.

Oh i get it. But to be fair, losing 2 starting O-lineman will put a serious damper on ANY NFL team, if no other reason than the fact that quality O-lineman, generally are on a roster, not sitting at home waiting on a call from their agents.

I've always agreed with the argument that it was odd to move on from Biadasz when they did... but they made up their mind that he wasn't the guy.

I'm not even arguing the fact that he planned correctly. I get the argument of the concerns surrounding some of the depth... My point is just that I'm not going to be one to say "what are you doing, why aren't you signing anyone or making a move"... i just don't the answer is that simple. Don't compound the issue simply by throwing randomness at it, or spending above what it should be. Don't sacrifice the long term, to put a better show on in week 1. It's the argument of playing Madden. Just going to the 'Free Agency' menu in your franchise and looking at a players 'rating' doesn't quantify a move. Trading for a guy, giving up assets when you've got other guys on the team that you may believe it, even if we dont, pushes a short term solution over the long term growth. They may see Gulbin as a guy who can be a starter, but have a development plan that doesn't have him there til week 4 / 5 / 6..

Is that the plan? Dont know. Is that the 'right' plan? That can absolutely questioned... it's all yet to be determined.

Like i said, the Biadasz move, i completely agree on... i guess i'm just holding out the hope that there is a plan in place that we're all not privy to.

Still, the original point of 'go get a guy' isn't as easy as it sounds, so it's kind of a shallow argument when you consider that 'a guy' isn't a premium upgrade over who we already have in every transaction.

With the way this FO has been working over 3 years, we've seen a path that we can kind of figure out what they're doing, but other times they come out of nowhere.

We saw a movement toward WR, but we didn't see Tunsil coming... we didn't see Chenal... hell, we didnt really see Diggs. A lot of people were asking 'why' for a long time before the local beat guys started actually suggesting they were hearing things.

Now they cut Harris. They cut Forbes, Moody....

I guess my point is, we have no idea what they're doing until they let us know what they're doing.

Now Gulbin is getting more reps with Jayden. It may be their plan to have him take over. Possible they don't want to throw him out there for a few weeks and it's better in their mind to 'hold tight' with in house for a couple weeks while they transition? I dont know, just throwing out potential explanations?

Good thought, but is Glasgow better or worse than any centers that will be cut/available via trade? A bird in the hand. I guess it takes two to tango, so who knows what is really going on behind the scenes with efforts to bring in a new center.

I can't recall another player like JGJ who has been so undeniably bad that even the reporters are openly asking why the guy is still practicing with the starters.

I guess my question is, why would you search for reasons to give them the benefit of the doubt? As in, why would you assume they’re making the right choice, whether that’s to sit tight or add someone, or whatever. They haven’t earned that, right?

Sometimes they’re quietly cooking something up, sometimes their in-house plan pays off, and sometimes they’re just behind the 8-ball and eventually land on seeing the same problem everyone else has already been talking about after their initial stubborn plan didn’t work.

It’s hard to tell which is the case in the moment, but your whole vibe seems to imply that you trust them to get it right or at least to have an actionable plan, even if we aren’t aware of it. And I guess I have to ask…why?

No idea but I’m guessing (hoping) it’s because he’s 34 and they feel like he’ll still be there for them if they wait until final roster cuts to see if somebody younger and/or better comes available. Seems like a similar situation to Diggs, where everyone was complaining about not making the “obvious move” and then it happened after AP patiently waited for other options to unfold. For all we know, he had been talking to Diggs and his agent all along, and knew that he had him in his back pocket as a fallback option. Could be the same situation here with Glasnow. Who knows. I’m not saying any of this is ideal, far from it, but also I’m not going to panic about it until we see what happens.

That said, if we go into the season as is at center, I’ll be standing right there with everyone else with my pitchfork!
