Don't underestimate how bad Brandon wants to be here. He will be on the practice squad when the season starts waiting in the bullpen and seeing if he can get back in football shape. lol
1. I don't think so because there's no reason for the 49ers to release him ... ever. Unless he gets his head out of his ass files for reinstatement and then shows up, he's just be on the Did Not Report list and not be paid until he dies. Because his contract will continue to toll so he won't accrue years.

2. If he managed to get himself clear of the 49ers and ended up on the PS here, I'd have virtually no problem with that assuming: 1) the team knows he won't be a problem, 2) he's healthy, 3) it doesn't cause issues for Daniels.

If he's willing to be on the PS and wait his turn, I think that would be the first mature thing he's done since this whole saga started

I honestly can't tell if you're serious or joking....

No doubt the 49ers will cut Aiyuk in the next 24 hours to put the final boot in.

I’m not even sure if they can before he shows up, is removed from the Did Not Report list, and has a physical lol. His career might just be over, he doesn’t seem interested in walking into their building and no one in his circle who is literate seems interested in reading him the rules pertaining to his situation

He literally can’t! He won’t go to SF to go to their facility, so until he does he’ll never play again. He doesn’t even count against their cap, they’re content to let him rot.

Good, let’s see if either rise to the occasion and let’s see if they’re able to stay healthy while throwing their bodies around competing in preseason. Field may narrow itself down, those guys are gonna get a lot of preseason snaps with some shitty backup QB’s
I dunno about this reporting, I've been listening to the daily pods from JP, Standig and Keim every day, and the going theme is Diyami is having a really good camp. Mitch said he thought you could just pencil Diyami in for 3 for 50 just about every game. Mitch is kindof a fool when it comes to this type of thing, so take that with a grain of salt. But I haven't heard anybody else say Diyami was having a bad camp. Might have missed it, but from what I've been listening to, feels like the opposite.

I don't disagree that it's not bad to put extra pressure on the back-end 3 guys to make the squad. Just that I'm not sure about the reporting.

I’ve thought Dyami was the most likely from that non-rookie contract group to make the team, because you know what he is and he has the rapport with Daniels. And I’ve seen some positive tweets about him in camp, yeah. I think he’s solidly #6 on the roster after Terry, Diggs, Williams, McCaffrey, Lane and will outsnap at least one of those guys, maybe two.

I think Burks has to play his ass off, not drop balls, and stay healthy all through the preseason to unseat anyone else. He needs to show his size and be a bully and have more highlight plays, and be available basically the whole time. He’s too much risk otherwise.

I think Van Jefferson is the backup plan to multiple of these guys now and will likely only make the roster if there are injuries or major disappointments ahead of him. I think he may be a candidate for that veteran WR on the PS position, who learns the offense and stays available.

And then that UDFA WR Terry’s taken a liking to will also make the PS

Diyami will out-snap Lane on offense almost certainly. He's going to be the 3rd string slot guy and primary punt returner. Assuming he's active.

The question is, can you have 6 WRs active on gameday? I don't actually know if DBrown plays special teams. Terry, Diggs and Williams are your top 3 WRs. Lane is the primary punt returner - Active. Luke is the primary kick returner - Active. That's 5. Can you squeak a 6th? Maybe. Depends on a variety of other positions and who can play teams.

I do wonder if a small market develops for either Van Jefferson or Burks if either one of them have a good preseason game or two. There will be teams who need depth guys. We're not keeping all of them. I think if we release them, they will get picked up somewhere at some point this year. Maybe we could trade one of them for a pick swap or something instead of releasing them outright. I don't think both would be PS candidates. But maybe I'm wrong...

Stoked about Diggs! our WR room goes from one of the worst in the NFL to dare i say above average? Huge move!
And by default makes our WR3 play in the right spot vs making him be a #2.

I'm really worried about WR3.

Too soon?
It's not too soon. Dyami, Van Jefferspin, Lane, McCaffrey, and Antonio Williams were all going to be 2,000 yards receivers this season, and now none of them are because Diggs is going to be old, decrepit, and soak up all those catches to the tune of 35 catches for 500 yards. It's a talent drain. The FO should have shown them more faith and split up Diggs' money as bonuses to them.

But of course he didn't, he went for the Bruce Allen tactic of backing up the brinks truck for a massive, long one year contract that will prevent us from acquiring better receivers next year.

I wonder if SF or KC is inquiring about Luke with the Diggs signing?
It would be cool to hear teams contacting AP about Luke, Burks, Jefferson or Dyami. Burks contract might make him less intriguing than the others. He will think, gee, why didn't I sign Diggs sooner.
