The 2026 Free Agency Thread

Interestingly, a number of people have talked about how size-wise, speed-wise, and college production-wise, Diggs and Williams are practically clones. What this hopefully means is Diggs is the perfect example/mentor for Williams.

Now… now we have a legit top 3 receivers.

Looks like the rhetoric of the room looks good was just rhetoric after all.

Terry, Diggs, Williams are locks

Burks, Brown, McCaffrey, Lane, Jefferson are not locks.

We still have a hole at Z receiver, but hopefully in the scheme we can hide that. We aren't keeping 8. I doubt we keep 7 either.

I'd guess that Terry, Diggs, Williams, and Lane (because of PR) are locks.
Who are the other two? Based on camp reports I'm going to guess McCaffrey and Dyami. I suspect they want it to be Burks though because I think they want one big receiver. Maybe McCaffrey fits the big receiver role though?

Yeah DQ has been talking up Lane as the punt returner all along.

When talking about kick returners he stated they were giving a bunch of guys shots and that a number of them have had success at it in the past. he did mention White and Williams along with Dyami as a few of those players. Also said they are fortunate to have so many

Grant doesn't get to celebrate today if you ask me. He's been saying the room is fine for months. I actually like the guy but he can kick rocks on this one.

lol, yeah and Finlay, Bram in particular. i like Grant and Finlay and Bram. But I'd cringe everytime I'd hear this Wr room is fine and fans are overreacting.

Danny Rouhier nailed my position perfectly -- getting by with mid round WRs or whatever in a rebuilding year is fine -- but this team with the young QB is set to go for it, so go for it.

For the hell of it, I'm going to take Peters at his word.

He was fine with the WR room. He was always going to look for upgrade opportunities. He saw a clear upgrade opportunity and worked the deal. Because of that, the wide receiver room potentially goes from fine to good.

Who wants to settle for "fine."

Not potentially, it did move from fine (or maybe fine) to good

The room as it was before was potentially fine, I don't disagree. But heck why is fine the standard?

I don't expect Peters to trash any of his units, he's going to sell them all including the CB room which he has done.

But based on his actions, i doubt he was privately cool with the WR room -- chasing Doubs, Pierce, having interest in Aiyuk until the meltdown and now signing Diggs.

That's also where Terry talked up Antonio excelling in, the slot and underneath. I can see Diggs and Terry getting moveall around with this offense. It is now going to be more fun to watch.

Now for that C position. we need Allegretti healthy and think about another backup besides Good Jones

Yep.
