The 2026 Free Agency Thread

There a shortage of talent on this team. The Rivera draft were terrible. I dont think any of are 1st or 2nd round picks are on the team from Riveras last 3 years. There just a shortage of over all talent.
 
It was a rough foundation to build from, true.

AP also seems to have done himself no favors and squandered a ton of valuable draft capital in 2024, but we’ll have a better idea this season, going into year 3.

Those who say it’s too early to tell and the process seems good, are more correct than not right now. The sample size isn’t big enough and there are some positive flashes among the seeming disappointments.

But if I’m still saying what I’m saying about our draft outcomes two years from now, that’ll be a problem.

Yeah, he and Handerson were my next offensively, there were a number of defenders that were all in that clump of quality players with almost equal grades.

That's for certain. Hoping some of the recent picks prove healthy and very productive in the coming year. Also, I feel AP had a very successful FA period for the front 7 on the D plus adding some good pieces to the offense and defensive backfields along with Chig of course.
 
I get some pushback on this thought. Mind you Sharp has no dog in this conversation

Problem:
There were other factors as well, but we saw his play style change after the early part in the season. It was odd to see him suddenly reminding me of Leveon Bell - hanging out behind blockers waiting for blocks to develop when he had been hitting the hole so quickly early on. Briefly, I thought it was him growing as a runner, but then production dipped and he lost snaps. I believe the hype got to his head and he started looking for the home run instead of taking what was blocked for him. Rodriguez, who has always hit the hole quickly and violently, took the starting reps and the rest is history.

I think there’s still a role for him here - no other back on the roster has the high end explosion he has - but he’s got a lot to improve on for it to be more than a bit role. With the importance of explosive plays to OCs (and teams in general), while it’s certainly possible, I’d be very surprised if he were cut. I think it’s likely that they keep 4 backs, use a RBBC and the real battle is between Ford and McKissick with one of them going to the PS... presuming Allen looks like he belongs. Feel like McKissick’s ST play and versatility keep him around, but Ford’s kind of a younger version of JD, so who knows.



Voice_of_Reason - I don’t disagree with your issues with the corner position, but thought I’d share this quote below about Witherspoon that I came across. Doesn’t alleviate concerns with Amos’ health or whether Sainristil can work as a starter outside, but combined with the addition of Douglas, it does make me feel a little bit better about our depth. Still might have to rely on an elevated 6th corner at some point, so hopefully someone in that battle between Hamilton/Vigers/Rush/Davis/Hawkins steps up.

I agree with you about JCM, but I think you mean Jeremy McNichols not JD McKissic.
 
So who is gonna take the fall for AP's subpar roster construction? I don't understand how you can basicly run it back with the same WR's from last year and think everything will work out this time..what in the hell was he thinking in getting rid of the starting center before he even had a legit replacement..He is in way over head as a GM.

In fairness, it is a mostly different starting group.

2025 had
  • 0.5 seasons of Terry
  • 1 season of Deebo
  • 0.5 seasons of Ertz
  • Plus an assortment of Burks, Chosen, Moore, Lane, McCaffrey

2026 optimistically projects to...
  • 1 season of Terry
  • 1 season of Williams
  • 1 season of Chig
  • Plus an assortment of similar caliber guys to last season but maybe Sinnott gets actual usage now?
The assortment is what we all hate. But the Top 3 weapons will be different from last season, especially if we get double the playing time out of Terry.
 
I think bringing back Dyami is going to help JD with another weapon he's familiar with. Hopefully he has another season like his breakout 2024 one. #HAIL

If Dyami can play like he did in the 2024 postseason, that would be great. Sounds like he is putting in the effort, working out with Jayden in the offseason and the first one on the field today.

The assortment is different too. Swapped Noah Brown for Dyami Brown, got Luke McCaffery back from injury, and added Van Jefferson.
