Good for the defense. First two OTAs, I think the offense won. Not really surprised if Terry and Williams are out then the WRs took a step back. They're supposed to. OTOH, it really would be a nice surprise if one or two of them rose up.

McCaffrey might be a bit of an outlier in terms of that timeframe? But yeah, I’m with you - can’t bring myself to expect much out of Brown and Burks (not that I have high expectations for Luke either).
 
I mean it’s like he’s daring them, begging them, to end his career. He’s playing chicken when he could just stfu for another month or two, show up to camp, and get cut. He didn’t have anything to say for almost two straight years and now he can’t stop talking? He’s daring them to stay petty, he won’t show to camp or he’ll show with a jacked up knee, and then he’ll be able to blame them the rest of his life and play “what could’ve been” instead of actually salvaging what’s left of his career after he signed a contract he decided he regretted.

Self-sabotage to avoid taking accountability, it feels like. Then he’ll play dumb every offseason until he’s 34-35 years old and people finally stop asking him why he won’t report and force the cut.
 
The problem is, the moron doesn’t seem to realize it’s not the 49ers who are analyzing his comments. I think his recent nonsense makes it much less likely AP tries to sign this guy.

Historically speaking. It is uncommon for a Year 3 WR to break out, but it's happened enough that it can't be ruled out. One problem for Luke though are that his only multi-catch games (3 of them) last season were with Mariota. 2 of them had Terry, but Terry also got hurt halfway through those.

We unfortunately don't have a trend to point to for say, Chemistry or something, that indicates Jayden and Luke know how to operate together. The best thing Luke has going for him statistically is his catch rate is high and his success rate was recently great too. Sample size is absolutely tiny though, so it really doesn't mean much.

Dyami and Burks in Year 6 and Year 5. Put a fork in them. They are who they are, unless someone can find a successful comparator, but nobody has yet.
 
Avery is no joke, he's one of the best QB coaches in the league. KDawg from a defensive standpoint any of this make sense? Tough for me to to lol see anything off of this but I am of course no QB coach. But Avery is somewhat of a legend in the QB business so I can't just shrug it off.

Will see but feels that way, Harbaugh seems to come from the Peters school of patchwork WRs, I think he's done a hair better than Peters with the acquistions. But he has the bigger mountain to climb considering Nabers' injury.

 
I don't want him if he's too dumb or stubborn to show up. Enough with this drama already and just sign Diggs so we can move on.

It's just too hard to tell from a clip like that. Here's what it looked like Jayden did.
  • Ball is hiked and he's looking straight ahead to see the defense rotating (I'm assuming)
  • Looks right to a read
  • Looks left to a read (this is an in-breaking route)
  • Looks straight ahead again at the throwing window the guy to the left moves into
  • Throws it for a catch to the middle of the field
Because it's what appears to be an in-breaking route from a TE or Slot alignment it doesn't seem that weird? Reads go from Right > Middle there, but he glanced further "Left" to make sure the "Middle" route was working as planned.

I think they have issues with the clip because they think the reads go Middle > Right > Left > Middle? Which would be far too chaotic, and a tough problem that most QB's footwork and arm would struggle with.

All-in-all, there's not enough information here from a poor video angle to really tell what's happening.

I saw this and almost responded. Albeit i'm nowhere NEAR the QB coach this guy is, just a fat guy sitting at home watching something in slow mo over and over, but I see nuance there.

Jayden gets the snap, looking straight down the middle of the field.

You can see when Sinnott 'clears' Jayden peeks left and you can see his and identifies that Luvu is flat heads up with Sinnott, knowing Sinnott is going to be breaking out, then back in again.

Jayden then looks back to the right as Sinnott heads outside. Could be a bad read, but he could know he likes what he see's and he's looking off his target. This all happening while the video remains at :01. This doesn't scream to me confusion, its split seconds were talking about, not panic.

As Sinnott gets out of frame, Jayden 'locks on' knowing that Sinnott is going to be breaking back into the middle, causing Luvu to commit slightly outside, opening up the middle of the field

Now Luvu has to 'react' and try to recover, as Sinnott has already broken back toward the middle of the field. He's not able to do so and Jayden throws a dot over Luvu and in front of the crashing safety

QBs use their eyes to manipulate coverages all the time, and maybe Jayden shouldn't have looked left first and gone back and forth, but again i dont see something that would be suggestive of confusion, panic, or lack off awareness, which is where you start to look at QBs and their processing / grasping of a new offense.

Both sides here have taken something relatively simple and made messing it up an art form. But more so Aiyuk than the 49ers.

I honestly don't care at this point, if they release him at some point (they will) and he signs here (probably still) on a prove it type deal - fine. Whats to lose - though it will probably be mid season before he's in proper football shape. But if I was the GM he would be the bonus cherry on the cake, I would not be factoring him into my thinking on how I improve the WR room in the short term.
