The 2026 Free Agency Thread

Aiyuk needs be a distraction. Don't do anything bad that can make them find some legal loophole but I would be showing up to the SF off-season workouts and become the center of attention. They can't tell you to go home if you aren't doing anything wrong. The NFLPA would be all over them, as would public perception.

Aiyuk is just going to let SF wait and he thinks that he will just slide into a top spot all late. It doesn't work like that. He will be too far behind. Start applying pressure and making it uncomfortable for them

IMO he's going to wait and see if a team has a starting WR that gets hurt in the offseason program and then tries to use that leverage into getting close to what he wanted before the draft.
This is likely but it’s also a risk for him.

It’s possible nobody really thinks they need his services when they get into the season. Hes transforming himself from a starting caliber player to a journeyman WR by being stubborn.

It’s very similar to what Terry do last year except Terry eventually saw reason and was already under contract.

Think I’d be out looking for a CB.
I think they will be looking for a CB somewhere.

They will need more veteran depth pieces at the very least.

Yeah they need to be open eyed for DB's and receivers

Think I’d be out looking for a CB.

Should be.

I didn't think I'd feel this way after not going WR in the first but IMHO Antonio Williams is the exact type of WR if they took one in the third, they'd need to take and said so before the draft, a dude who can help now.

So while they still need a Z. I don't feel as dire about Wr as before.

CB is code red. They need at least another backup who is good enough to start.

I disagree with the screaming idiot.

It’s exactly what everybody expected to happen.

Aiyuk has to do certain things to force the 49ers to release him and he’s done none of them.

We can’t count on him as any part of any plan.

There’s nothing unfortunate about this. It just is what it is.

Jesus. If we actually want him, give up a 7th next year and get him the fuck to minimize-camps. I feel like everyone is taking a moral stand here, not on the board here, but in the respective front offices. Just be practical. If he is your projected outside receiver, have him accept a renegotiated contract and give up a 2027 7th.

And if Aiyuk isn’t your projected 2nd outside receiver, sign Jennings or Diggs and wait it out.

Also, we still need more pieces in the secondary.

You can’t give up any picks for him, especially in this situation. Folding here is a tell to other FOs that AP is a guy who folds in a negotiation

Here are the available corners:

Marshon Lattimore (oof) - We all know Marshon.

Trevon Diggs - People say he's aging... but he's just about 29. Playmaker that gets beat as often as he makes a big play. If we want excitement, in both directions, he is probably the guy. But I'm not sure I want excitement

L'Jarius Snead - Had 10 INTs/40 PD in 4 years in Kansas City. He went to Tennessee and fell off the face of the planet playing in only 12 games and registering zero INTs and only 3 PD. 6-1, 192. Probably off his best years. Not sure this is a route I'd go.

Tre'Davious White - Probably too old. 31.

Jeff Okudah - It just never materialized for him. 6-1, 205, coming from Minnesota. But he just has not played a lot of football in his career. So, he's a big time risk and likely unavailable. He's played in 50 games in 6 seasons. Been on four teams, and a different one every season for the last four. I could see a vet min flier, but this dude isn't going to help much unless something clicks.

Kyu Blu Kelly - Youngest available corner. He's 24 going into his 4th year in the league and fifth team. He was with us previously. Young - the kind of guy you throw a dart at the wall for. But you probably miss the entire target.

Jalyn Armour-Davis - Entering his fifth year, team 3. Stat sheet in 30 games is 4 PD, 54 tackles. He DID start 10 games last year for Tennessee, 26 years old, 34 tackles, 2 PD, 34 tackles and a TFL. Best season of his career. 6-1, 200 lbs. This is the guy I'd go after in this group. I wouldn't be thinking he's going to save us. But he has SOME production, SOME experience, fairly young.

There's more, but this is from: https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/available/_/year/2026/position/cb/type/ufa

😬 I'd almost prefer to take a yolo swing at DeAndre Baker off of the DC Defenders squad

Oooh that Lattimore guy looks very interesting! Former Defensive Rookie of the Year and 4 time Pro Bowler. Sure he’s been a shadow of his former self for years…but it will be different here.
we could get him at a discount and without having to give up draft capital. it's a no-brainer, really.

We need to sign to sign two WR. There are more CB available then I thought. These players are mostly washed and expensive but we were short picks. Probably one year deals.

Maybe both Diggs brothers for one year and anothrr Wr.

I don’t know that it’s deserved, but I’m at the point that I really think we enter the season with Dyami starting outside. Williams will take some of those 12 personnel WR snaps across from Terry as well, otherwise he’s the obvious slot in 11 personnel.

Unless the Aiyuk stuff plays out and he’s healthy enough, but I’m sick of discussing that. Let’s assume every WR post from here on out includes “unless Aiyuk etc.”
