The 2026 Free Agency Thread

For some reason, I think Lane might be pretty good at the Deebo role. Give him a short pass in space and let him wiggle and run. Deebo is a tank and Lane should be a jitterbug, but same idea. Wasn't that what got Lane noticed in college?
I hope. But no matter how jitterbuggy he is, if he keeps dropping balls like last year, it ain’t gonna work. Hope he’s been working his hands this offseason.

Don’t forget about Burks. Maybe they are higher on him than we know. He looked decent in his limited time here thus far.
I mentioned him in a post. I doubt they are that high on him considering they went after Pierce and Doubs aggressively.

i dont think u can count on Burks. He had played 4 seasons. He has had a hard time staying healthy and has yet to have an impact season. His 10 catches last season were cool but I dont see him as anything beyond a decent backup.

And if they feel otherwise they haven’t earned my trust at this spot were their instincts have been far from spot on.

Well, you’ve always been a bit of a homer.

Not even saying you’ll wind up wrong, but that’s the reason.

Nothing wrong with a positive take though

One more thought on the Biadasz situation, how certain are we it's not just a run ofnthe mill HR situation? For example, have you ever worked with 2 people who just didn't get along or work well together? Maybe they are both fine people, just not together...or sometimes somebody who is otherwise a great employee just does something against corporate rules. For example, I had an employee i supervised come to work drunk. It sucked because she was a fantastic employee, and I know she went on to do great work (still friends more than a decade later), but that day was the beginning of her end in our office...and she is brilliant and hard working. Sometimes, things dont work out, and we, as fans on the outside, may rightfully never know why a given employee/player is let go.

I was really frustrated with his drops. I wonder if he's just really bad at tracking the ball?

I said earlier that I'm starting to feel like we are picking Styles but I also add Downs to that. We still have a defensive HC who has his beliefs and a new coordinator who he truly thinks that can deliver the goods.

I could see them waiting to build a dominant defense, especially with how Seattle and New England dominated the playoffs with defense

That’s definitely a risk when you take an “around the LOS” guy and try to retrofit him into a deep ball guy. The ball tracking and comfort isn’t there

The depth charts I have seen have Paul a LG, Coleman as backup LT. I surely had hoped I see he'd be the starting LG and didn't expect Paul to return.
There is no depth chart. Anything you’ve seen is being done by a social media intern probably while drunk.

Yeah sometimes there are situations where an employee isn't particularly bad at the job, but also not a good fit for the company regardless. The fans are not privy to a lot of the information that goes into making the tougher decisions with personnel. Sometimes that info eventually leaks and make's way to the media, but sometimes not. It also doesn't automatically mean any kind of scandal.

I personally didn't think the roster was to the point of dumping quality depth, but you will see good rosters with depth release or trade away decent players because they like what they see coming up the depth chart behind them, even if they aren't loud about it publicly.

Hey! Don’t besmirch their honor like that. Have some respect.

It might be that they’re high. Or both drunk and high.

I don't know if Lane has a tracking problem since he fields punts. He may have a concentration problem wanting to run before catching the ball
Tracking punts and passes are a bit different. Punts are higher and you’re in more open space at the time of kick. You have to have a set on you as defenders barrel down on you while the ball is in the air, but open space at the start makes concentrating on tracking the ball easier. The job itself isn’t an easy one, mind you.

Passes you need to keep timing, shed the defender and the ball can be in flight. It’s a slightly different skill set.

A little over 3 weeks before the draft. I am having a hard time not seeing AP make another move leading into the draft.

A relevant signing or trade to close another need before the draft.

I feel the opposite. I think that he wants to wait until after so they will know what we still need

How about moving Daron Payne out ?

I bet the phone lines are open, but they are not making any calls themselves. If someone blows them away they will act.
