The 2026 Free Agency Thread

Just saw that - looks like a great depth piece or a good 4th CB if needed.
Finished the 2023 season ranked first in the NFL in incompletions against as the primary defender (56).
Had a career-high 11 pass breakups in 2023.
After Week 4 of the 2023 season, according to Pro Football Reference, he allowed the second-lowest passer rating in coverage among all cornerbacks (33.3).

Could surprise and challenge Mikey or Amik. That's a good problem to have.

I'd like to see us add another slot CB specialist like Kohou to backup and challenge Robertson

Im pretty excited about the ahkelo Witherspoon signing.

And when I say excited I mean relative to his contract and expected depth chart position.

No i dont think he's going to be our lockdown corner but watching his film hes a really good tackler and has good ball skills.

As a depth piece he could add a lot of value.

My question is this. Was Forbes ahead of him on the depth chart?
It's difficult to say because he was in and out of the lineup last year, but when healthy, he had comparable snap counts--with a slight edge going to Forbes.

In other words, it's an above meh signing 😁

We need at minimum 2 more CBs. I think it was Galdi (thought it might have been Keim or Standig, I really don't remember) who said the CB group feels a lot like the WR from last year. Last year we had Terry, Deebo, and a wilderness. Terry got hurt, then we had Deebo and nothing. Then Deebo got hurt and we had just nothing.

The CB room, I think the three penciled in starters are probably ok, assuming Sainristil plays more like he did as a rookie than he did as a second year guy. But there is no depth.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to see them draft a guy with the second pick at CB. Or Safety. If I was just picking positions, I'd go CB. I get BPA and all. But I'd target CB with the 3rd round pick if possible.

I also think they're going to sign a couple more depth guys. They need more than 3 who can play. Witherspoon is a good depth piece. They need a couple more depth pieces and draft a guy.

Doesn't exactly fit, but I couldn't resist the urge.

I agree with your sentiment - corner depth is important. We’ll definitely carry 5 into the season, and possibly a 6th, so there’s not a ton of room. They’ll bring in back of the roster competition to fill out the 90 at minimum though, with at least 1 guy making the team.

I’d get rid of Luke or Lane. But Brown / Jefferson in a one year deal makes sense

Why would you get rid of Jaylin Lane?

He was a rookie last year. Not all rookies start their NFL careers blasting out of the gate. Some rookies need to get their NFL legs first. He deserves more time.

Besides, while Lane didn't wow his rookie year as a WR, he was great on special teams and he is still on his rookie contract.

He is one to keep around for now.

It doesn’t matter to me which. Get rid of Luke for all I care. Whoever is better, keep.

Watch them keep both of their picks and get rid of others first.

And they might even be right.

Do you see a world where Bobby Wagner is brought back for 2026 (yeah perhaps at a reduced rate)?

I am having a harder time seeing it. I'd love for them to draft one a few LB's at 71 but I am doubting that occurs. Jacob Rodriguez sticks out as a comparison but there are about 5 guys I do like.

No need to hit the positional value button, We all have hit it at nauseam with the discussion at pick 7 and we know it is a deep Edge, S and WR class....

EDIT - I just wanted to add that at 71 there are a number of players at the other positions I'd really like as well
