The 2026 Free Agency Thread

The only reason I see why Jennings has not been signed is the guaranteed money he evidently is looking for.

The fact Adam Peters never made a visible attempt to sign him or bring him for a visit to me says something.

Because we KNOW that Adam Peters seems to be at least interested in talking to every ex-49ers player that he drafted when they become available

We can get a bit too cute and try and sign players and double up to have the greatest starting defense in history

There's a little hyperbole there for sure.

I mean we were statistically the worst defense in the league last year, we'd have to make a hell of a lot more moves to pretend we're going for greatest ever.

Before the offseason began if you made me pick between going hard after fixing the defense or going hard after getting jayden weapons and I could only pick one I could have made that decision in a fraction of a second.

Its quite obvious that Quinn got the memo that his side of the ball can't suck again or hes gone with little to no exception and im glad they attacked it.

Still would like weapons for jayden though for sure but if 7 comes around and love and tate are gone I got no problem taking downs/delane/bailey/styles and shoring up an atrocious defense even more.

Im of the belief that while both are important you're more likely to win a championship with good offense and great defense than the other way around.

I don’t get the love for Jennings. He is ok, that’s it. He is a product of Kyle’s system .. and blocking well is like line item 5 on what I value in a wr. He isn’t going to improve a whole lot on the wr room as it stands. Hold out for Ayuik!

It's as simple as he's the best man left available. She may not be the beautiful woman in town but she's the prettiest one at the bar and it's near closing time.

If they sign JJ and BA, I think Brown gets cut

Van Jefferson may be the casualty in that scenario tbh, due to similar role and being older than Brown. Brown has built-in chemistry with Daniels as well

He is basically everything you say…and still would be by far the top WR on the roster (outside of Terry obviously).

Aiyuk is on top of any other addition people want, including Jennings.

You’re really undervaluing the blocking, also. Especially in this new offense. Especially if we draft a guy like Love. But even JCM would benefit from the downfield blocking prowess in a big way

Jennings at 20m per year, massive no from me.

I’d potentially wave a 3/40 deal his way with a sizeable wedge of guaranteed money.

That's the way I saw it when they were both signed almost simultaneously

UGH, Peters signing players he knows! How dare he act like literally every executive and coach in NFL history!

Camp competition and with so few draft picks, it's backup insurance. Not a horrible move

Yeah.. but when you wake up in the morning you get buyer’s remorse … and realize why she was the last girl at the bar.. Shanahan schemed him open. When he goes to a team to be a #2wr.. you’ll see him get abused by good corners .

I meant to add I thought he missed last year when I wanted him to sign Hufanga. I still wish that had happened.

I agree and that’s why I think as much as we NEED that date we also need not to break the bank. IOW, I agree with Peters holding the line on what he’s willing to offer.

I’d get rid of Luke or Lane. But Brown / Jefferson in a one year deal makes sense

That's the thing, we really don't know what Bloughs offense is gonna be. Will he be innovative or just copy someones playbook. Right now it's easy to imagine any style player in our offense (and defense!) Perhaps his super power is using the strengths of whatever asset we have. I would love that

They are a bit of opposites. Dyami Brown has deep ball juice and yards after the catch juice, but is a subpar route runner. Van Jefferson lacks athletic juice but is a pretty technical and nuanced route runner.
